This review is for Getta Burger, Carina QLD

These guys are definitely in the top 3 when it comes to Burgers in Brisbane. This is the bricks and mortar store for the food van, That BBQ Joint, and in the morning it is That Coffee Joint, turning into Getta Burger at night during the week and for lunch on weekends. Their burgers are superb and massive, I had the pig out which is a pulled pork burger with, cheese, bacon and fries on the burger. I also tried my daughter's junior burger which was great. They do everything from grinding the meat, to smoking it and making the sauce so you know there is love in the product. This may just become a regular for me even though it is out of the way.

This review is for Mons Thai Rarnaharn, Windsor QLD

verified email - 05 Sep 2014

This is a great little Thai restaurant in Windsor that does good authentic Thai for reasonable prices. They also do a great cooking course that Mon runs that is really informative and great fun to go along too. It is only a little restaurant but does take away and dine in and has some great dishes to choose from.

This review is for Flying Nun Cafe, Samford Village QLD

Had a quick pitstop in here for lunch on the way up Samford for an afternoon drive. It is a great little spot with cozy surrounds and a nice small menu. The breaky menu sounded great but we were just too late for it so settled on the lunch menu and had a great burger and brisket roll. They also have a good smoothie and beer range. Definitely recommend if anyone is up that way.

This is one of the best italian restaurants in Brisbane in a perfect spot right near the mall. We stumbled across it when we first moved to Brisbane and were staying at the Sebel and looking for some good italian, it had great reviews and was right opposite us. Although they were booked out they allowed us to do takeaway. We have been back a number of times and it has been great each time. It is good simple italian for a reasonable price.

This review is for The Alderley Arms Hotel, Alderley QLD

This is a decent suburban pub not too far out of the city. They have regular daily specials which makes it cheap to have a steak with specials for steaks at least 3 days of the week. It is reasonably standard pub grub but they do a decent effort of it. They also show every UFC fight live which coupled with a decent steak and a beer is a pretty good day.

This review is for Red Hook, Brisbane QLD

verified email - 02 Sep 2014

I was very keen to check Red Hook out as it is new and has been getting great reviews, however I was quite disappointed. The quality of the burger was good, however there was nothing to it, some sauce, a patty, decent bun and cheese. It was also quite small and certainly has nothing on Da'Burger or Ben's Burgers. The fries were also very average too, essentially Macca's fries for $4. The service however was very good, I got my burger nice and quickly. I would go back again to try their duck tacos, brisket burrito or lobster roll but this was strictly a burger expedition it is certainly lagging far behind the other great burger spots in Brisbane.

This review is for Jong Ga Korean BBQ Restaurant, Fortitude Valley QLD

verified email - 02 Sep 2014

I was very keen to check out Jong Ga as I was interested in having a true Korean BBQ experience and cooking the meat in front of me. I was left a little bit disappointed though as the quality of the meat was very good and the service left a bit to be desired. There wasn't the range as advertised and it all seemed to be cheap cuts, the buffet selection was quite limited too and all seemed quite old. It was a good experience however I would go elsewhere to do Korean BBQ again.

This review is for Moorish Café, Darwin NT

verified email - 01 Sep 2014

Moorish cafe does a great range of tasty tapas. The service is pretty good too and you don't have to wait too long for your plates and there doesn't tend to be a big wait between dishes which can be annoying if you are having numerous small dishes. It is something a little bit different up in Darwin and also on of the first dates I went on with my now wife which makes it special.

This review is for Parap Village Tavern, PARAP NT

verified email - 01 Sep 2014

The Parap Tavern is a pretty standard pub in Darwin, it does a decent meal focusing more on steaks and serves good cold beer. It doesn't really do anything special and is a bit of a tradies pub, however it is a decent place to go if you don't feel like venturing into Mitchell St or if you just want a quick local beer.

This review is for The Flying Cock, Fortitude Valley QLD

I had been wanting to check this place out for a while and I wasn't disappointed. The service was good, it wasn't busy when I was there so not that hard to do but they were friendly and prompt, and the food was good and great sizes for the reasonable price. I had half a rack of ribs, jalapeno poppers and onion rings and was stuffed after it. The ribs were good although there was a little bit too much sauce and they could have been meatier but it was a great size for $13, the onion rings were tasty but a few were overcooked however the jalapeno poppers were definitely a winner. I was a bit disappointed about paying $11 for a pint as it was only little creatures which calling a craft beer is a bit of a stretch. All in all though a good experience and I will definitely be back.
