I flew from Perth to Melbourne and after landing, a passenger tried to steal my bag from the overhead locker. As my bag contained a lot of expensive equipment, I never let it out of my sight, and so I witnessed the guy try to escape with my bags. I ripped my bag from his arms, and when I tried to lodge a complaint with the cabin crew, they kicked me off the plane. I lodged a formal complaint with Virgin who basically said that there is nothing they can do and that the attempted theft of my bags was my fault, not theirs. They said I should have raised the issue with the cabin crew, except that before I could speak to them, they kicked me off the flight to prevent me from reporting the theft. The police weren't any help either. Apparently it is not a crime to steal someones property if they fail in their attempt and you get your property back. To make matters worse, Virgin have told me that they aren't pressing charges against me and that I'm free to fly with them again. I'm confused. My bag is stolen and I am being treated like a criminal??? Virgin also want me to be grateful to them for not pressing charges against me even though it was my bag that was stolen. Next time, we're catching the bus.
