My kids have done swimming lessons at the new leisureplex twice in the last 6 months, and although the quality of the Vac Swim program is brilliant and the CS (Centre Superviser) is fantastic and very helpful, the actual leisureplex pools aren't anything to rave about. In terms of cleanliness they aren't horrible, but we've seen bandaids floating around in the pools for the entire day, not being cleaned out, which was gross. And my 5-yr-old son has had the bottoms of both his big toes cut on the jets in the shallow pools on two separate occasions, which apparently had happened with quite a few little kids, and leads to a fair bit of a bloody mess around the pool area. However, the lifeguards are very prompt and helpful and have always done a great job of first aid and cleaning up. There are always 2-3 lifeguards on duty each time we've been there aswell, which was really good. The large swimming pools are great for lessons for the older kids, and there are also two smaller length pools for walking, which are well used by lots of people.
In terms of being a 'fun' swimming pools to visit with your kids during the holidays if you're not going for swimming lessons, I wouldn't really recommend Cannington Leisureplex. They have one waterslide, which is good for the older kids who like a pitch-black slide, but there is really nothing inside that provides any interest for youngsters. The 'little kids' shallow pool has no slides, no equipment to climb on, just one bright red shower-type structure that only occasionally has been turned on. There is an outside play area for young kids which is basially like running through sprinklers, but there is absolutely no shade out there and it's quite surprising that there's not even a shade sail, considering the chance of being sunburnt in the Perth sun is very high! Anyway, swimming lessons are great, but in my opinion the pools themselves aren't worth a visit. The cost for us to do lessons including pool entry for 2 weeks was $100. I thought $33 entry pass for each of my boys and $16 for me to sit and watch was heaps. At least the Vac Swim program is cheap at only $10!

My husband and I ate dinner here for the first time last night (Friday evening) and had an excellent time. We were seated at a table for two in an outside area near the boardwalk beside the boat harbour. There were two tables for two people, and two for groups of 4 people. It was a quiet area sheltered from the breeze with a lovely view of the boats and the homes along the hillside of East Fremantle. The only downside to where we sat was that it was within the only exit from the restaurant to the boardwalk and there were a lot of people walking up and down the steps next to us to come out and smoke further down the boardwalk. One very rude lady casually strolled right in front of our table to look at a boat for sale and stood there smoking until we asked her to move along as we don't like cigarette smoke with our meals! Apart from that experience, the rest of the night was lovely. The food selection and quality was brilliant, can't fault it. Every dish I tried was very tasy and very fresh. The variety of greek salads was beautiful! My husband loved the tender roasted lamb and the beef spare ribs, whilst apart from the salads, I thoroughly enjoyed the lemon chicken & potatoes, and the lamb with orzo.... sooo yummy! There was also a lovely curry on offer and a selection of seafood, amongst the many other dishes. The dessert buffet was equally good, with many sweet Greek treats! I made the most of the baklava and brandy pudding with a lovely latte after dinner. The unexpected part of the night was when the two owners (I think) of the restaurant said it was plate smashing & dancing time! It was amazing! So much fun and energy and almost the whole restaurant got involved in the dancing! It was truly a great night with wonderful entertainment and I would definitely come here again with my husband, and also with our two children aswell. For those thinking of going but worried that there might not be any food the kids would be happy with, well, there were hot chips in the buffet, grilled pieces of fish and plenty of bread rolls, plus the roasted lamb and vegies, so for fussy eaters at least there's something. And there's beautiful jelly and icecream in the dessert buffet for kiddies too :) So really something for everyone. Eat Greek Restaurant is well worth a visit and in our opinion great value for money. We will definitely be visiting again.

A very simple-look restaurant that is ALWAYS jam-packed, pretty much right from opening the doors at dinner time! The menu is varied and the foods I've tried are always fresh and delicious, however, they could do to introduce a small kids menu, or at least some more child-friendly options in portion sizes on their existing menu. The fresh fruit juices are just delicious and great value for money too. The Special Chicken Nasi Lemak with the homemade sambal is super yummy! I highly recommend Malaysian Dining Delights if you're looking for a reasonably cheap meal, with fast service and live in the local Bentley or Wilson area.

Approximate cost: $9-$16

I've been coming to the Swansea St Markets for a few years now and they have really upped their standards. The quality is great, very fresh. I love the buckets of fresh fruit that you can grab at a great price. I love how there's a huge variety of international foods and hard to find products. The delicatessen is lovely, although a little pricey ;) The butcher's is good value for money. The range of baking/cooking products is fantastic. We have made some lovely friends at the markets over the years and definitely recommend them as a high-quality and value-for-money place to shop for fresh food!
