I took my fur baby who was 17 yrs old to be sent to heaven as he was extremely unwell.
I had the most traumatic experience of my life by taking him to Kirrawee Veterinary Hospital for his end-of-life experience and cremation. I would never in a million years recommend you go to this vet as it has been my hellish nightmare.
Firstly the EFTPOS machine was thrust into my face before his final moments. But yet this was not even the worst of it. I paid for him to be cremated. He was supposedly cremated the week before Xmas. I rang the vet and spoke to [redacted] a Vet nurse, after waiting 2 months to find out where he was and I was told that they couldn't locate him and he was possibly discarded with other unclaimed dogs.
I was then told that my fur baby was displaced because I hadn't let the vet know what I wanted done with him even though only 2 days later I paid and request what I wanted to be done with his remains.
Then I was later told that he was finally located with the other "Bodies" in the freezer of other unclaimed dogs and maybe it was my fault that I took too long to tell them what I wanted to do with my baby's remains. I paid and told them 2 days after his passing.
After speaking with [redacted] (the vet nurse) she told me that he would be sent off for cremation 2 months later.
That night I cried my eyes out about what had happened to my fur baby and I worried about how he had been treated.
I sent [redacted] an email and then she rang me the next day and said that she expected my response and thought that I should have been angrier as she thought I was too calm when I spoke to her the previous day. Of course, I was calm I was in total shock that I was going through this and Kirrawee Vet didn't seem to think it was an issue.
I told her I didn't trust and told her that I wanted to ID my pets body. I didn't want someone elses dog coming home to my home.
She rang me back and said his body was already sent for cremation and if I wanted to ID him I had to let her know ASAP as he would be defrosted. (Now this was getting worse and worse). She said he was already sent to Pet Rest. I was given a number to ring and the lovely man at Pet Rest said that my dog was sent to Parramatta and he was in Mona Vale. A lovely lady from Pet Rest rang me to ID him. My dog was incontinent and at the time of his passing, he was wearing a nappy. Kirrawee Vet told me that they would remove it and thankfully they didn't as this was the only way that I knew that he was correctly identified. The lady told me that he was a little white dog and I said "Yes" I am sure that you get many little white dogs. My baby was a PugxMaltese and yes he was white. The only thing that let me know that it was him was because Kirrawee Vet left his nappy on him. The lady at Pet Rest said he had a white piece of material with orange things on it. His nappy had little orange ducklings on it that let me finally know that they had the correct dog. If it wasn't for them leaving him in his nappy I would never have known that I truly had the right dog.
On 10/2/2023 [redacted] "Promised" me she would ring me and let me know when my little boy would return home to us. Of course, she did not. On 28/3/2023 I rang Kirrawee Vet yet again and found out that he was returned and I could pick him up.
I am so angry, disappointed, and brokenhearted that our family has gone through this most disgusting experience.
I did finally speak with the practice manager who apologized. but to be honest this is not enough. Kirrawee Vet seems to be more concerned about making money than they are concerned about your pet. Our end-of-life experience of a four-legged fur baby is a horror story that I hope to never experience again and I hope other families do not have to go through. He may have been just a dog to them, but he was a family member of 17 years who was deeply loved. I would not recommend them to anyone.
