The Wall in the Wilderness - Australia's most ambitious self funded art project..... Greg Duncan is the scultor who is creating a Wall of hand sculpted timber panels 3metres high by 1 metre wide depicting industries that have shaped the past and present of the rugged west coaast.... when finished there will be one hundred of these panels. The details of each have to be seen to be believed they are so intricate one marvels at how such intricacy can be achieved in wood. Individual curls in the ladies hair, bulging muscles and veins in the arms of the work men, the details just amaze you. There is also a gallery of art work, and other carved pieces, lifelike gloves and sickles, a coat hung on a peg which you would swear was real..... be prepared to stand in awe at this artists talent.

We were onboard the Eagle, quite a large catamaran ($3.4 million) where comfort is the key word. Luxurious seating on the upper deck, with plenty of leg space. The cruise started out from Strahan, out to Hells Gates and into the Southern Ocean, an informative look at some aqua farming, a walk around Sarah Island with guides to share the history and characters who had lived on the island. Then onto Heritage Landing and a walk on elevated walkways with interpretation stages and a guide giving us details regard the flora and fauna. Back to the boat for a really delectable smorgasbord, fresh smoked salmon, a selection of cold meats, salads, and Double Brie Cheese from King Island....mmmm. Further up the Gordon River with DVD playing regards the old timers who had worked in the area, and the lifestyle they led with their families while gathering Huon Pine, and settling the area.

Really comprehensive menu, all at reasonable prices. Great range of sandwiches etc, freshly made, with optional extras. Really friendly staff, Clean premises, local tourism information also available for visitors to the area.
Very informative cheese tasting and demonstration. Loved the selection of flavours, and all priced quite reasonably.
Stayed for an ice cream in the cafe, which also offers activities for the children and a play area in a safe location at the back of the premises.
We booked in on the Winter Escape Package. Unbelievable value, accommodation (Ocean View room) Continental Breakfast, and a main course for 2 from the Bistro Menu.

Fantastic store, lots of choices with Gifts and Health items. Reasonable prices, great staff, loads of help and advice.
Found what we were looking for (ear candles) considerably cheaper than health stores in the City.
Always worth a look in when you are in the area, as there is a rapid turnover of stock. Well sorted, clean and tidy for a tip shop. Excellent staff who are always willing to help you with anything.
