We used them to service our car. They did a good job, and I thought it wasn't too expensive either. However, I found it a little difficult to park the car there, because the yard is very small and crowded, and the petrol station traffic goes right through it. They also took a bit longer than expected.
We've been taking our car here for service for awhile now, and have always been satisfied with the work and the cost of service. It's a lot cheaper than taking your car all the way to Mackay, and these guys do a good job. I also appreciate the fact that they explain what is wrong with my car in a language I can understand. The staff are friendly, and the manager is great.
A really pretty motel, the name tells it all. You sort of feel like you're staying at an old mansion when you drive in. A bit more expensive than some, but worth the money if you want to have a romantic or comfortable stay. It's close enough to the centre, the rooms are tidy, service is good.
I've eaten in once and ordered take-away another time, both times the food was good. I liked the atmosphere and the friendly service. The menu has a lot to choose from, and their pastas are delicious. I think this must be one of the best restaurants in Mackay, affordable and yet a little fancy.
I was happy with my stay at this motel. The room was basic but had everything I needed for one night stay. I think the bathroom must have been renovated recently, it was spacious and the shower was very good. The motel is very close to Canelands shopping centre and other shops, and it wasn't at all hard to find a good restaurant nearby. The only negative thing I experienced was a huge cockroach that came out from under the fridge at night and nearly scared me to death. I did leave a note for the staff about this, so hopefully they will have placed some bait there :).
Approximate cost: $95 Walk-in rate
We keep going back to this motel whenever we need accommodation in Mackay. It's neat and tidy, the rooms are clean and comfortable, they have satellite TV, and the hotel is located close to the main street. It's good value for money.
One of the two Chinese restaurants in town (both on the same street). Owned by a local Chinese family. They're open daily and do both dine-in and takeaway, plus home delivery if your order is over $20. They have three big fish tanks at the entrance, and the dining area is fairly nice. The service is friendly and food average. Sometimes they do lunch specials for $10 (includes rice and a main course).
Moranbah Medical has undergone major changes in the past year or so. They've extended the building and brought in two new doctors (a very much needed lady doctor!) Most days you can get an appointment for the same day, and they are quite flexible. The doctors and reception staff are friendly and professional. The reception area is clean and there is a tv to watch and magazines to read while you wait, plus toys for children. The appointments are mostly on time, or at least you don't have to wait for hours.
The only place where you can get take-away on this side of town. This food is sure to make you fat, but why not treat yourself sometimes? They do good fish and chips. They also stock a few grocery products like milk and bread, which is good when other shops are closed.
A little plain for my taste. They sell the basic Aussie things like pies and breads, but nothing that would really make my mouth water. Nothing healthy either.
