I may never get my hearing back in my left ear now because of the total lack-of-urgency my case was deal with by multiple doctors at this clinic as well as the repeated misdiagnosis's I received.

I came in with sudden, total profound hearing loss in my left ear as soon as I began experiencing it and saw three different doctors over the course of a week at this clinic to try to get it addressed.

The first doctor suggested it might be earwax build up and that I would need to come back in the next day to get it removed. I came back in the next day and they told me that they were unable to treat it as it was after 4pm (no mention of this on my first visit). On my third visit the wax was removed and I was told it was merely an ear infection and that I would just need to take antibiotics and come back in a week. I asked if it could be something more serious or if I would need steroids and the doctor told me no, just take the antibiotics and come back in a week.

After a few more days I still had absolutely zero hearing in my left ear and decided to go and see a doctor at another clinic, who then told me to go to a hearing clinic, who then told me I needed to immediately go to the emergency room to get steroid treatment, as the longer I wait the more chance there is it will be permanent. They told me that I really should have begun the treatment within the first 1-2 days, but because of repeated misdiagnosis wasn't able to (even though I specifically asked about steroid treatment).

Long story short I still have no hearing in my left ear and am frustrated that I wasn't able to get the medical attention I needed right away.

To anyone out there: if you ever experience sudden sensorineural hearing loss: go to the emergency room right away. It's an emergency even if your GP insists it's not.
