Not often I get interstate but given my love of organic markets figured it was good to check it out with some friends on my visit. Love laid back vibe, stoked to see some organic produce and free range dairy, love the artisan and arts & crafts...can't recommend it highly enough.
I love i can walk across the road in my pj's to get my first coffee of the morning! I love that they know and don't need to repeatedly ask what type of caffeine fix i need! I love that the staff always take the time to have a chat and I must admit i am also partial to their breakfasts there. Good, reasonably priced, close to home, close to the beach.
it is without a doubt THE perfect place for the organic breakfast in Manly. I love that no matter how long between visits, you are always remembered, treated like an old friend and you are genuinely welcomed back. My ultimate fave breakfast is sautee mushies, wilted spinach, fried free range eggs and grilled haloumi. AND they have a little organic shopping area where you can stock up on some amazing products (eg: Honest to Goodness) AND they are now open for dinner!
For me personally, the world of organic food markets is absolutely defined by Organic Food Markets! Each of their market locations is a true reflection of their understanding of the community wants and needs with a twist of the unusual or unexpected.
A little pocket of paradise, beautifully located at Riverside Girls High School, this market offers certified and conventional fruit and veg, free range organic eggs (why buy anything else!), grass fed beef, an amazing range of eco skin care, jumping castle for the kids to use up all that energy from eating such fantastic organic fare and so much more!
It's on every Saturday from 9:00am til 1:00pm with street parking
went here cause i read a blog by Miss Piggy Eats and as she is the guru of all things markets thought i'd best give it a whirl. it's new, it's small, it's growing. i love the community feeling but it would be great to see more people there supporting it. there are some seriously nice soy candles (see Shane: he's amaaaaazing), and the fruit & veg of course is yummy scrummy. last week there was an incredible big slide for the kids (old and young i reckon) but being the coward i am, i stood by the sideline and cheered on. Free range meat, fruit and veg, coffee and friends: good way to spend a saturday in the Hills District
this place is the bomb. it's packed with stallholders and shoppers, there is an ENORMOUS grassy area where there are pony rides, i love it when the school have their Car Boot Sale cause it simply expands on what is already there. The community spirit is generous and the coffee is amaze. Best picks (apart from the organic which is heavenly) vintage clothing, fair trade, and VEGAN food! The egg & bacon roll queue seems to go on FOREVER and i reckon that's a seriously good sign of a seriously good market in a seriously good location
being an novocastrian i was stoked on my last visit to find these markets here. hunter street needs some zooshing to what it used to be and i was so pleased to see at least part of it is being revitalised with these markets. even better that they are there more than one day a week! wish they had been there when i was at school (literally at the top of The Hill overlooking the mall) cause we would have been there in droves but thankfully and hopefully a new trend will begin!
sadly while i can't get to this market as often as i wish, when i do it's always a delight. having said that, i do know that this market is probably the best place to grab a gozleme for lunch (gotta luv the gozleme), and having some organic fruit as a "dessert" kind of makes it all worth while.
In a quiet little spot you can shop for your organic fruit and veg, share a coffee and bacon & egg roll with friends, help support local producers and know you are eating food that's good for you!
