I took my beloved little pet ferret Lupe into ARH who had been attacked by a dog and was dying.
Despite her critical condition I was forced to wait for 23 minutes while healthy animals were seen first.
When I finally saw a vet I asked them to operate because Lupe’s stomach was bulging and she was struggling to breathe.
ARH said they would perform surgery.
The next morning I found out they didn’t operate and instead simply left Lupe in oxygen. When Lupe was sent back to my vet, they told me her condition was now so dire that they recommended euthanising.
Instead, I went through with surgery to try to save her life. She survived, and it was discovered she had a punctured gut.
The problem from here because ARH had let her gut contents to spill into her belly for 15 hours with no surgical intervention.
So further surgeries were required to try and clean out her insides, and she died after the third surgery.
I sent a complaint to ARH about her treatment which was ignored and subsequently lost. After 9 days I followed up and they rushed a response back to me a few hours later which was full of inaccuracies and assumptions. They made no attempt to consult me on anything. On the 22nd of December, I sent a response and despite numerous efforts to get a reply I have been ignored by ARH staff who have yet to acknowledge receipt of the complaint.
ARH treated my pet, and now me as nothing but a number and I have seen no care from any staff member.
