We were a bit disappointed after eating here as we had high expectations after finding out that this was previously the Figtree Gourmet Kitchen which had won awards for its pizza. The pizza was fine, but not really enough topping on it. Also the pizzas only came in one size which was too big for one person but not big enough to be shared by 2. Given the size, and lack of topping, they weren't really very good value at around $20 each. For dessert we had the tiramisu which was apparently homemade. However, these were served in disposable plastic takeaway cups which was pretty downmarket. The tiramisu tasted very bland - maybe they dumbed it down for young children to eat it. The other thing was that for dessert the only other choice was sweet pizzas. Despite the disappointing experience, I would give it another go and see if the pastas or main meals were a better bet.

This review is for Kings Chinese Restaurant, Wollongong NSW

I sometimes use King's Chinese for home delivery and generally it is pretty good. I would recommend the Special Fried Rice ($8.50 large) and the Roast Duck with Plum Sauce ($18). As with many Chinese restaurants, having such an extensive menu, some dishes are a lot better than others. There are several types of fried rice which is confusing on the menu - Combination Rice, Special Fried Rice, and Fried Rice. The Special Fried Rice is the one I now order after mistakenly ordering the others - it has lots of small pieces of vegetables and Chinese barbequed pork in it.

This review is for Rosie Josh Indian Takeaway, Woonona NSW

This new indian takeaway is open from 5pm (closed Mondays) and you order from a selection of bain marie curries. I ordered the vindaloo which was medium-hot and very tasty, and the dahl which was good as a contrast. The guy behind the counter let me taste a couple before I decided what to buy. I should've taken him up on the offer again the next time when I bought 2 without tasting them and they were both too mild for my taste, but still quite tasty and fresh. Most of the dishes are very mild but there are a couple that are a bit more spicey. The only let down has been the onion bahji which looks great in the warmer but when I went to eat it, it was hard as a rock, and the lids for the mint sauce that came with it didn't fit and kept falling off. A bit difficult when the food is takeaway! I will be back but will stick to the more spicy dishes as the vindaloo was much better than an average takeaway.

We went to this new cafe on a Saturday. We had 2 very well made coffees and talked to the owner who was passionate about the coffee. We also had a Bacon and Egg Muffin for $4.50 which was a good size (not like a large burger) and had plenty of filling in it. The owner told us he is planning on opening up a bakery and a coffee roasting facility at the back, and eventually opening on Sundays as well. The food looks great here - there are slices of quiche on display as well as a range of nice looking sweets. Other items like foccaccia and fettucine are on the menu. Also, the prices are very reasonable. The chalkboard menu has 5 deliberate spelling mistakes so your proof-reading expertise is unnecessary (as I discovered)!

This restaurant has admirably filled the gap in good Indian food left when the Cliff Rd Indian restaurant closed a few months ago. First we had complimentary pappadams and mint sauce. Then we had Malai Kofta and Fish Curry, both of which were delicious and tasted very fresh. Next time I would go for something hotter as both were mild dishes. My partner had a house white which was a Jacobs Creek Chardonnay for $5 - quite reasonable value and I had a Mango Lassi which was a large serving and well made. We finished with the Fig Kulfi as recommended by the waiter, and we were not disappointed. It was great. Very fresh as well. The staff were all very friendly and the service was efficient and quick. The food was great value. We will definitely be back. They are also open for lunch and have special deals for $10 and $12. The restaurant is huge so there is probably no need to book unless you have a large group.

This review is for Jaffa By Rob And Allen, Fairy Meadow NSW

90% of the time I go to Jaffa I get a great coffee - nice and hot as requested. The odd time it hasn't been as good tends to be if there is a new staff member. The food is fantastic value - particularly the toasted turkish bread sandwiches which are only $7 and big enough for 2 light eaters. It is best to order at the counter even if you're eating in because you do tend to wait quite a while to have your order taken if you wait at your table. Highly recommended.

This review is for Results Laser Clinic, Wollongong NSW

I have had 6 treatments out of my package of 10 with Miriam at Results Laser and it has gone very well. Miriam is great at relieving any embarrassment the client may feel and she chats with you if you feel like it or stays quiet if you don't feel like talking much. The first 2 treatments were quite painful but since then as the hair has got finer, it has not hurt a lot. I go in about every 3-4 months at the moment. I think the company was recommended on A Current Affair. I would definitely recommend them. They use the GentleLase which is much more effective than the cheaper laser treatments (IPL I think) you see at some places.

Approximate cost: $About $350 an hour as part of a pre-purchased package

This review is for Pino's Dolce Vita Fine Foods, Kogarah NSW

We came here just for a coffee although the place is set out like a deli at the front with a huge range of meats and other goods. You can see through to the back which must be where the cooking classes are done - big tables and masses of food and equipment. The coffees were exceptionally good - strong and hot as requested, and with a nice thick crema. On the side was a very tasty wrapped chocolate. The coffee was so good I would go out of my way to go here next time I am anywhere near the area and will definitely try some of the food next time too. The Italian woman who served us couldn't have been nicer. A very pleasant experience all up.

Nice food and the coffee is always well made except for one thing - they don't do "extra hot". Even if you return it and ask for it hotter, the coffee still comes back tap-hot temperature. I think they're under the misapprehension that if it was hotter it would boil and be ruined, but there's a good margin still there before that would happen. (Try Bar Italia in Leichhardt to see how coffee can be much hotter without being ruined.) Unfortunately, that was the reason my husband and I stopped going there. Not recommended if you like a hot coffee. Recommended if you like it "warm" as otherwise it is well made.

I go to Lisa at Indi-Rae Hair for regular cuts after she was recommended to me by a friend. Lisa and Martine have no trouble understanding exactly what you want and they come up with some good ideas as well. They are both very quick and a cut and dry is only $25. A great, very friendly local hairdressers with plenty of parking.

Approximate cost: $25
