We received a 120 day notice to vacate with no reason given. PNJ tried to arrange inspections months before we were due to move out. Upon reminding PNJ that they couldn't inspect the property until 14 days prior, we were threatened with: "As stated we can make this easy or difficult and I am sure that you will understand the wisdom of doing either." We sent this off with a complaint to Consumer Affairs. The Estate Agents Resolution Service promptly spoke to PNJ and reminded them that they were wrong!
We ended up moving out on a Sunday, but had paid up until tuesday. The request to have the rent refunded was refused. We threatened to take PNJ to VCAT. Upon doing this, PNJ warned us that we'd have to pay $500 for them to appear at VCAT!! They also initially refused to refund our bond to try and prevent us from not going to VCAT. They even issued us a VCAT notice to try and recover $500 from us for simply appearing!!! hah! The was promptly refunded (late) after a few calls to Consumer Affairs and a friendly reminder to PNJ that this was illegal. Still, no rent refund.... So, after about a month, we applied to VCAT for a hearing. It was held on 16th December. VCAT found in our favour and had some stern words for PNJ. A court order was issued and we were refunded our $100 in rent owing (no big deal, but worth it!). Unfortunately, VCAT can't refund the costs, but that's OK, I would have paid $100 to do it again, it was so satisfying. I've kept this account factual, but I'm sure you can understand the feelings behind it are less than positive. This firm will never again get our business and part of the reason for writing this is to ensure that as many people as possible make the same choice.

After discussing with the agent some cleaning issues associated with the house being filthy when we took possession, we received threatening emails and phone calls. The following is taken from one such email, immediately following a phone call from a female staff member threatening to throw us out/calling us a waste of space, amongst other pleasantries: "Break Lease Fee, Advertising Fee, Cost of My time . I kindly suggest both of you, Think about what you are doing? It appears to me that you want To move out!"
Needless to say, completely unprofessional overall. Will never rent again, and will certainly never buy, through this agency.
