Today was the first time that I had been to this salon and I was a little nervous since my last cut at a different salon was a disaster but when I walked in I felt so welcome that I just relaxed. The hairdresser talked to me for several minutes about my colour and the style that I was after and what I ended up with was exactly that. The colour looks natural and the style will be really easy for me to do at home. She did a fantastic job but I think one of the things that I enjoyed the most is that she wasn't flitting around dealing with other customers and doing cuts in between mine; she just concentrated on me in a way that didn't seem overbearing. It felt very comfortable and relaxing.
This salon doesn't have all the fancy bells and whistles such as coffee machines and vibrating chairs that seem to double the cost of the haircut. What it did have was a friendly and talented hairdresser that makes a great cup of coffee, gives you comfy seats to sit in and doesn't charge the earth.

I am really happy with my cut and colour and found the experience relaxing and enjoyable. I will definitely be back.

My husband and I had been to Penny Gardens several times over the last year and have always enjoyed it. However, we happened to go to breakfast both today and last weekend and weren't quite as happy. Last week we ordered bacon and eggs with a side order of chipolatas thinking that we would get two (being written in plural) so that we could share but only received one tiny one which of course we had to cut in half. It was a pricey sausage! This week we ordered the big breakfast thinking it would be better value for money and it was definitely big. But, the mushrooms tasted like they had been pre-cooked and left sitting in liquid and the bacon would have been nicer if cooked a little longer so that there was a little bit of crispiness to it. One odd thing was that one of the eggs had a fishy taste to it so I wondered if it had been cooked in a spot on the grill that hadn't been well cleaned. Put me off a little. Overall, the breakfast was ok but not great.
Our son ordered the pancakes with chocolate buttons. These were huge and he couldn't get through it all. He enjoyed it but said that it was a little dry because the pancakes soaked up the sauce. They weren't quite as the menu described though. Perhaps he should have ordered icecream with it.
It's a shame that it's not quite how it used to be. The size of the meals isn't the issue, it's more the quality.

There's a young man and a young female on the wait staff who were brilliant. Very friendly and welcoming.
