I have really long, thick, luxurious hair and unfortunately I'm not a hair stylist despite working within the beauty industry.

I typically go to the larger blow out chains scattered around the city and never stay within my own neighborhood since I typically get blowouts at 7am before the work day begins.

However this past weekend was cold and dreary and I decided to treat myself to a blowout but not have to leave the area.

Where I was going to go was immediately clear: Phillip Michael’s Of Mayfair Hair and Jewelry boutique.

They're in a very convenient location and every time I've passed by the salon seems welcoming, clean and not too crowded giving me the impression that walk-in's have a short waiting time. I love to see that they have a very strict policy one client at a time, meaning you receive 100 per cent of their time, which I always require when having a haircut

I walked in an only two customers were in their chairs getting their hair done.

However, it looked as though it was short staffed since no one was at their little reception desk and I had to swivel my head around like an owl to determine who would be the best person to speak to.

Shortly after I walked in though a young man asked what I would like to have done.

I wanted a simple wash and blow out and was immediately directed to the styling chair, an middle aged man walked over and said hi, I’m Phillip Michael’s I believe you require a blow dry

He and the gentleman who was Phillip son, chatted to me about what blow-dry I required, they played with my hair, and the very uniformed told me what they believed would suit me, I was then taken to the washing station. Bill took his time washing my hair with Moroccan Oil product. Side note: his towel skills are crazy because I have a lot of hair and he managed to get it all wrapped up in a little towel.

The timing was great because bill was ready to do his magic and he went to work. As I was sitting I was brought out a tray of a tea pot china cup saucer little choc bars and water and honestly the best thing happened: he was quiet! I'm sorry but I'm not sorry because although I don't mind having a conversation I much prefer being in my own little world sans conversation while having my hair done. Interestingly enough, towards the middle of the blow out I wasn't noticing anything particularly volume happening with my hair and was preparing myself to be a little disappointed.

As time when by however, I noticed the technique he was using with the brush and carefully pinning everything together and my hair didn't look so lifeless anymore.

It's a shame I didn't take a picture but when I had guests over to my apartment later on that day I received a lot of compliments!

Genuinely loved the blow out and the price tag: $67 was a good price. I'd honestly be happy to go back but only during a weekend when their store hours work with mine.\
