This review is for The Reject Shop, Toowoomba QLD

I love the reject shop. It's one of those places you browse on a lazy afternoon and end up getting ideas while you're there.

"Woah...this art canvas is only 4 dollars? Huh...well I do like painting. I could do up something nice and hang it up in the hallway..."

"Look at this! I've always wanted solar powered outdoor lights. I should do up my whole backyard like this...and at this price, I can afford to!"

In other words, if you're trying to save money? Stay Away! Because you will spend it here.

They have everything from discounted snacks, to gift paraphernalia, bath items, furniture and organisational stuff, travel items, decorating peices, linen, games, kids toys etc.

I recommend a walk through if your looking to entertain yourself and need some ideas.

This review is for Smiggle, Toowoomba QLD

To those that would call Smiggle a stationery shop, I would say: 'I used to think so too'.

Smiggle is an office, home office, accessory, store. You would be hard pressed to find someone who walks in there and isn't immediately intrigued by the novelty of the place. The items are functional, but fun. You get everything from USB storage devices with ball bearing mazes on them, to rulers that double as wristbands, Zip up pencil cases that double as skipping ropes.... Essentially this place has all those things that would have made you that much cooler in primary school. There are toys for the adults as well. Office stationery and desk supplies with a personal kitschy touch, and everything in the store is offered in every color. So if you find an item you want, you need only scan the walls for the color that suits your decor or personal style.

Thumbs up from me and I'd recommend you check the place out if you haven't already.

This review is for Sizzler, South Toowoomba QLD

verified email - 04 Sep 2012

I do enjoy Sizzler whenever I go. I like their salad bar, the range of choices and combinations sits well with my need to try new foods all the time and have some variety of choice.

The staff are nice, meal service is prompt considering the size of the restaurant and the new layout is very chilled and relaxing.

Prices are a little crazy at times considering the plate size has been shrinking over the years, but on the whole, thumbs up.

This review is for Home Ice Cream, Toowoomba QLD

verified email - 04 Sep 2012

I love Home Ice-Cream. I do have 2 complaints though...

It doesn't come near my home and I'm in the middle of town, and the jingle on the TV commercial gets stuck in my head.

In all seriousness, the Ice-Cream is delicious (especially their butterscotch) and it's very affordable.

This review is for Hog's Breath Cafe, Toowoomba QLD

verified email - 04 Sep 2012

I enjoy Hog's Breath for it's delicious curly fries, and incredibly tender steaks (seriously, melt in your mouth stuff).

My only complaint is the seating. It is low, and cramped and hard on the back. If you are at a large table it's great, but the booth style timber seats are less than ideal. I dread ending up in these seats so I don't go there much anymore.

This review is for Telstra Shop, Toowoomba QLD

verified email - 04 Sep 2012

I am sorry to say that Telstra Shop Toowoomba in Grand Central is a poor representation of Telstra.

While the store is well set out and the staff are always well presented, there is a distinct lack of organisation and unfortunately, the customer is always the one that suffers. The fact that the shop is usually packed full of people standing around waiting is not helpful either.

We are in the store to be served, being seen immediately by an overly confident store manager toting an iPad and then told to wait for an indeterminate amount of time for service is NOT the way to make a good impression. Especially when this person spends his time looking for new people to come into the store where they too will have to wait for service.

I understand that telstra computer systems are outdated and slow and that processing orders takes forever. But! All you need to do is to take the customers information and request, tell them you will call them when it's ready and send them on their way to do their shopping or whatever. Standing in a store waiting like it's a centrelink office is not a positive experience. The sooner the management realise this, the better.

The staff could also use an attitude adjustment. No customer likes to feel that they are intruding on someone and taking up their valuable time.

Your products are excellent Telstra, just organize yourselves better.

This review is for Pizza Capers, Toowoomba QLD

verified email - 04 Sep 2012

NOTE: I am basing this on the store near Hume and Herries Sts.

Simply put, Pizza Capers has ruined regular pizza for me. I've been spoiled now.

The pizza is amazing, their range of menu items is much more varied than most, and the ingredients are fresh and cooked to a gourmet standard.

Most pizza places rely on over-cheesing or over-saucing their pizzas to create flavour which inevitably leads to a grease hangover. Not fun.

This is not the case here. The flavours are owed to toppings like marinated steak, seasoned roast potato, tandoori chicken...you name it. This means that not only is it lighter and better for you, but it tastes nicer and won't give you indigestion.

It's also worth noting that they have a yummy range of gelato in the fridge for dessert (try the white chocolate & frangelico. It's my favourite.)

And now I'm going to have to eat there tonight because I've made myself hungry. DARN IT!

This review is for Cold Rock Ice Creamery, Toowoomba QLD

verified email - 30 Jul 2012

Cold Rock Ice Creamery is my favourite place for Dessert in Toowoomba. The gimmick here of being able to choose your ice cream flavour and mix in candies and treats is fantastic and makes every trip there a new experience. You can try a new flavour and the mix ins allow for literally thousands of combinations.

Even if you are not a fan of the mix in's I would still recommend Cold Rock just for an ice cream cone. The ice cream is made in-store and the flavours are delicious and gourmet by themselves. Even their 'Australian Vanilla' is well above the average.

I would recommend it as a good place to take the family or just to stop in a pick up a take home container of your favourite flavour for the freezer. But be warned. It won't last very long :)

Approximate cost: $12.00

This review is for Officeworks, Toowoomba QLD

verified email - 25 Jul 2012

I was not aware until recently, the wide range of products and services Officeworks offers.
If you need anything printed, from promotional material and flyers, to photos individually printed in albums or even on canvas, they can do it for you. I took a pdf document with a homemade card game on a flash drive to them and they printed up my card game on a proper type of glossy card, cut them to size and packed them in a box for me. All for a very reasonable price.
On top of this they offer a huge range of office and home office products from furniture, to general stationary and even electronics.
I recommend them as a first stop to organising a home business or stocking your workplace. They even offer business credit cards to make keeping stock on site even easier.
Very impressed overall.

This review is for Kaboom Comics, Toowoomba City QLD

verified email - 19 Jul 2012

Any shop that caters to geeks and comic book nerds in Toowoomba? I am a fan of.

Plus their Harry Potter figurines are very reasonably priced.

Getting in a wider range of merchandise to cater to general nerds would be great, but I understand the limitations of being in South East Queensland.

Keep it up guys! I love this store!
