Karen Gilchrist and Brooke are wonderful, friendly and dedicated hairdressers. Karen knows what works and has great ideas about improving damaged hair quality. Relaxing environment, great results at good prices. No hard sell of products, I have been a loyal client for two years now. I am very happy with what Karen has achieved with colour, quality and cut for my hair. No need to look elsewhere. This is a great find.

This review is for Sushi Station Toombul, Nundah QLD

Our family loves Sushi Station at Toombul. The sushi is the best we have found in Brisbane. It is interesting to watch the chefs prepare the sushi. They are always happy to prepare extra avocado sushi for my little daughters. I think their prices are very reasonable. Warm, friendly staff who always recognize us and welcome us back again.

This review is for McCowans Estate Solicitors, Surfers Paradise QLD

It is very, hard to find a practical, reliable, friendly, effective and smart solicitor. I found one! Kent Dalziel from Estates at McCowans. Estates issues are really, really horrible. Very hard to deal with by yourself. Kent Dalziel is wonderful. He says what he thinks, he backs himself, he charges fairly and he doesn't disappear when the going gets tough. I highly recommend Kent.

This review is for Queenies Tea House, Nundah QLD

verified email - 12 Nov 2011

I used to absolutely adore Queenies on Racecourse Rd. So I expected Nundah Queenies to be great. It is not. I have tried four times now over the last two years (as I am a local and ever optimistic) and it has got steadily worse each time. The tea is still good and the food is OK but over-priced. The service has got steadily worse. We were turned away once on a weekday afternoon for a cup of tea and cake - not a meal - because they said they were closing in 20 minutes. This is silly and not good service. It would be great for Nundah if Queenies lifted their game to the exquisite food and warm, olde worlde service that years ago was the norm for the Racecourse Rd Queenies.

This is a lovely country hotel on a glorious huge expanse of land. Great for a romantic weekend - there are lots of weddings here in the beautiful grounds - or a fantastic farmstay (with pool!) for the kids. But watch out for the goats with little kids. The food is delightful and the staff are very warm and helpful. A little too expensive but that does not deter me from repeat visits, although I would definitely stay longer (more than a night or two) and more frequently if the prices were about 20% cheaper. I absolutely love the horse rides. I had never ridden a horse and went out for the hour long escorted horse ride and had the time of my life! Lots of activities and also an old-fashioned games room which is lovely.

This review is for Historic Cedar Glen Farmstay, Beaudesert QLD

Fabulous farmstay for a family with children. Great for adults as well. The home cooked meals were a delight. The children had non-stop activities - whip cracking and boomerang throwing were favourites. The host Nigel is wonderful and everyone is very warm and inviting. We stayed in the old homestead - a great experience. Remember to take some snacks for the kids if they need filling up between meals (but don't leave the food in reach of the highly adept possums at night) and go for the full catered option - you won't regret it. We will be back same time again next year - and hopefully every year thereafter until our kids are too old to enjoy it and then my husband and I might go by ourselves! Mobile reception is limited - which is a great thing. Makes grown-ups put down their i-phones for a couple of days and relax!

This review is for Punthill Flinders Lane, Melbourne VIC

verified email - 12 Nov 2011

I have stayed here many, many times for business and leisure since 2002. I love it. Great atmosphere, very comfortable, location can't be beaten - fantastic spot on Flinders Lane. Staff always go the extra mile and great value too. Look out for the metal cats! Very cute and stylish decor - suits Flinders Lane. Kitchen and bathrooms are well-appointed and airy. Cleaning is always top rate. If the business traveller needs anything extra or gets stuck, the staff are always, always keen to help. I love Punt Hill forever!!

This review is for Simply Duo, Nundah QLD

Thanh and her staff at Simply Duo are fantastic. Great atmosphere, great food, great coffee. Very relaxing. Wonderful for workday breakfast, morning tea or lunch. Wonderful for a lazy weekend breakfast. They are open for dinner too but I haven't tried that yet. They do the best poached eggs in Australia!

This review is for Suburban Glassand Leadlights, East Brisbane QLD

verified email - 12 Nov 2011

Suburban Glass replaced 4 panes of glass in my house - kitchen and bathroom Some of the panes were quite unusual, old-fashioned frosted glass. They did the job at short notice, came out same day to do a quote, turned up precisely on time, did a great job, all staff I spoke to were very friendly and efficient and charged approximately one third of what another (very large and well known) glazier firm had quoted. I was extremely pleased and would highly recommend them. Very professional outfit. Great service.

This review is for Rhino Espresso, Northgate QLD

verified email - 12 Nov 2011

Rhino is my local coffee shop and I love it. It is a great little hub for the Northgate community. Everyone enjoys their coffee and sits inside or outside often with their dogs in tow - very Parisienne! The staff remember how you take your coffee, the wraps and snacks and homemade mini chocolate muffins are delicious and the opening hours are long and very convenient. Long live Rhino!
