We decided to try this newly opened turkish restaurant for lunch, as their advertised special sounded great, Burramundi with Prawns or Calamari, salad and turkish rice.
After a 20 minute wait and failed attempts to flag a waiter down for water, we were wondering where our food was- they weren't busy, so there shouldn't be a hold up!
The food finally arrived, and on sight you could tell the fish was way overcooked. It looked and was very greasy, the calamari that I had asked for grilled was deep fried, my husbands prawns were chalky (overcooked) and the 'turkish rice' was dried out white rice.
We called over staff and asked if this was how the food was supposed to be, and also asked why the Calamari was not cooked as ordered. He insisted that everything was right....Well we decided then that we would leave. Which we did- oh and we did not pay for uneaten meals either! I would not recommend.

We decided on Red Spot because of the price, which was good as the service wasn't there! On the day that we were due to fly into Perth I called Twice to TRY to confirm the rental, both times receiving a 'leave your number the desk is unattended, message. I left a message, but was not called back.
We arrived at the airport and the desk was - unattended. We headed up to their other service desk, which was attended, but by an airport employee and not a red spot employee. He said he was there to just 'watch' it and didnt know what he was doing....as the red spot employee had to go to the other airport to help out for a while. Being 10.30pm, we were not going to wait the 30 minutes that he suggested she may be...He managed to put the paperwork together and find our keys and 30 minutes later (though still no red spot employee anywhere) and we were finally on our way. The positive was teh price and the car- Both were great.

Dining at Dundees is so up and down. We have been on a few occasions, usually with functions on others requests and have found that the food is either really good or less than average. We dined for lunch last week and both ordered the Seafood chowder (which we have had before). This time it was disappointing!! It came out with a skin on, so reheated and then left, and the usual large chunks of seafood were missing. Instead replaced with tiny little once frozen mussels and a total lack of seasoning. They didn't leave the seasonings on the table, and it really gets to much to keep asking for pepper as the soup lacked flavour. The bowls were much smaller than the previous week as well, but the price wasn't! We won't be back. The most positive thing is the view and friendly staff.

We decided to have lunch at Vibe after hearing about their 2 for 1 burger promotion. As we should have expected those promotions are usually not really as good as one might think. It is true, the burgers were 2 for 1, but you have to buy a drink as well, and the drink prices on the menu were incorrect! The $4 beer was really $7, so the 'free' $12 burger, was really just substituted for 2 drinks we did really want.....
The quality of the burgers was okay, but considering the waitress told us that the patties weren't made on site but instead purchased from a local meat supplier, I guess all the cook had to do was grill them, and honestly the wagu beef was the best part about either burger! I was a little annoyed as well, as I choose a burger that specifically did not have mayonnaise listed as a condiment, but unfortunate was swimming in a greasy mayo.
Not worth the $30 we ended up paying for 2 burgers, one side of chips and 2 warm incorrectly priced beers....

We popped in off the street for lunch with a work colleague, for a quick lunch, and we were ashamed that food and service in Cairns has gotten to this standard. My husband and I ordered burgers and made requests to omit one thing on mine and two on his (simply onions and beetroot....its not hard to omit that!).
After about a 30 minute wait, everything was ready. The burgers were completely wrong, My husbands was only a patty and lettuce, and mine, missing half of the ingredients as well. When I went to ask, these came out 10 minutes later. So by now cold burgers. The Buns on both were stale and the egg cooked hard and spongy- not fresh at all. I actually couldn't eat the burger- it was so dry and hard- So I took it back. The owner refused to believe that anything was wrong even when I pointed out our experience. He actually told me that I was wrong and that the problem was with me and not the food. My husband was ill that afternoon and night.
Our work colleague also did not like his meal and said that it was oily and tasteless. We won't be back and we would advise others not to go!

We were really pleased to find such good quality food on the esplanade that stands out from all the other places. The pizza was really fresh and actually like pizza we have had in Italy. The calamari salad was also one of the best calamari dishes that I have had in a long time, with soft and delicate calamari that was well cooked and well seasoned. The wait staff were attentive with water and it was just an overall positive lunch!

I would highly recommend the in house made pasta- Especially on a Thursday or Friday when they do a trio of Pasta with the most gorgeous tortellini. The filled Chicken Maryland is also very satisfying and very well cooked. The view of the harbor compliments the meal as well, so a great experience all around.
