Today I took our 17 year old sons Mitsubish Triton Ute to Mitsubishi Osborne Park (Paceway Mitsubishi). We live in Mindarie, however I took the car to Osborne Park as all my usual local service centres were fully booked out such as Autobarn etc. I was surprised how competitive Mitsubishi were when I rang them and went to the trouble of taking the car there so he’d have the car for the weekend (he WAS going away) I dropped the car off at 7.30am And I got a call at 12.20pm from Parvel, whom is one of the managers. There were a lot of items he stated that had us very concerned. Firstly we’ve got the “Service Tax Invoice” showing that on the previous service that Rockingham Mitsubishi dealer did, they recommended they change the transfer case oil and the diff oil, which it clearly shows that the previous owners chose not to do it. We wanted to make sure we did this on this service, however Paceway Mitsubishi said on this service, it was clean. Just doesn’t add up !
The same service it shows ONLY 6,000 km prior (there was 125k on the the odemetor and now 131k) It states the Power steering oil and break fluid was flushed and replaced with new. They stated today that these fluids were dirty and needed replacing.....really, again! Surely this can not be the case after just 6,000km. When my husband informed Parvel about the previous service and asked how can this be the case, he said “perhaps the other dealership put the wrong fluid in” ! How unprofessional to discredit another Mitsubishi dealer!!.
The most concerning was that Parvel said two very different stories, firstly he said to me that the Auxiliary drive belt tensioning bracket had cracked and would need replacing. He said we could not have the car until Monday now as if it broke it would obviously cause more damage but would check with the mechanic to be sure. On return, he said the bracket had actually broke whilst trying to tension the belts. When my wife rang and asked why would you tension something up if you could see a hairline crack? And his reply was that they didn’t. He said it broke when they removed it. This item alone is $565 to replace!!! This bracket has been on the car for 10 years with tension on it from the belts and suddenly just happens to brake. I honestly feel it was an error from the dealership that caused it to break and my son is paying the price for this!. I obviously do not believe a word this guy is saying, when he’s said two very different things to us both.
We accepted this VERY reluctantly and then he said they couldn’t get the part until Monday! I asked why and he said the local wharehouse do their last delivery at 11am. I stated that I would drive to Welshpool and pick up the part and take it to them. They said that I can’t do this as it’s courier only, which I was happy to be. So anyone that books their car in for a service no matter what time on a Friday BEWARE, you might not get your car back for the weekend. Nothing was even offered to help, like a courtesy car.

You think your paying to get professional work done by tradesman and this happens, really not good enough especially from a main dealership....very unprofessional !!

They promote very affordable servicing prices and they hit you with every cost imaginable.
I’ve since read some very concerning feedback here and now feel I will have to take the car to a more reputable service centre and have everything checked over as I really don’t know what to believe and don’t feel at all confident with their work!
I’ve also since spoke to another mechanic who said the bracket can be very awkward to remove sometimes but never heard of one braking, perhaps this is why there was only one available in Welshpool probably covered in dust !
