I believe we made a mistake by choosing the "Chef's choice" for $65. I think it included too many different menu items without highlighting what this restaurant is renowned for. I believe it does the restaurant a disservice by doing this. I would however say, we look forward to returning when we are next in Melbourne as their steaks looks absolutely amazing. I would not recommend the "Maiden's Mood".
Really busy cafe with great atmosphere. Very popular for breakfast on a Sunday - which was why we visited. The chai latte was very weak but the coffee good. Breakfast was ok. I'd definitely order something different next time. Although I asked for my poached eggs to have the whites properly cooked they were overcooked with completely solid yolks. Hubby had the big brekkie which had about a half a plate (not quite) of mushrooms which he doesn't eat. They were delicious but way too many and not much of anything else.
It's been years since we were here last. Special lunch out yesterday and it was delicious front start to end. The service was a bit hit and miss. My husband received his drink and finished it before I received mine which wasn't really very good. The food however was fabulous. The sourdough -yum. I had the haloumi entree, my husband ordered the duck liver parfait - delicious, although I did struggle to pick out the pomegranite molasses in my entree.. My pork with prawn and chilli caramel was divine - a bit more chilli caramel would've been welcomed. Hubby said the beef cheeks were really good. The roasted pineapple and coconut dessert was small but scrumptious. Thoroughly enjoyed the Alessandro wine. Can't wait to return.
The Chai latte was delicious as was our salmon open sandwich with generous amounts of avocado and smoked salmon. Lovely street, beautiful sitting outside in the sun and a busy little cafe which I think is always a good sign.
Met some friends here last Sunday for lunch. Service is a tricky thing. Our waitress was friendly and lovely but not at all attentive - so didn't check on us, didn't offer more drinks etc.
We ordered garlic bread, mains and a kids meal. The garlic bread and kids meal came out quite quickly and the garlic bread was ok. Then we waited. And waited. After 1 hour and 15 mins I asked another waitress how our meals were coming along. She returned to say they wouldn't be much longer. They were about another 15mins. When they arrived it was obvious they had forgotten us. My husband's Moroccan lamb was so raw it couldn't be eaten. We told them the lamb was raw we didn't want it any more. They weren't that busy, not that that should be an excuse and no-one apologised up front to say they'd simply overlooked us. Instead the waitress came over and said the manager sends his apologies and offered my husband another meal free of charge. To be honest this wasn't good enough. After waiting so long my husband didn't want anything else and the manager him or herself should've come over. Will never return.
We were going to a show at the Arts Theatre last night and thought we'd book in for a meal having seen this place the last time we went to a show. The service is friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious! We had the Chilli Chicken - not very hot, but totally scrumptious, the Charcoal Lamb cutlets - so good, smoky and perfectly cooked and the butter chicken - this was my least favourite but still very tasty. The fried rice was good as was the roti and the pan fried potato side. Would highly recommend. If you book through Dimmi (possibly for July only) there is a 20% discount on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Food was fantastic - unbelievably delicious and different. Service was friendly and super attentive. Loved the flatbread, loved the chicken, loved the carrots with that utterly scrumptious, could of licked the plate, almond aioli, loved the prawns and that beautiful caponata and chillli oil, loved the smooth, luscious, not too sweet chocolate bar dessert.
Last weekend we had a couple of pizzas delivered. The BBQ meat lovers was good, but I didn't really like the salami they used, however my husband loved it, so there you go - can't please everyone. We also ordered the lamb yiros pizza - that was really tasty. Prices were good too, around $14 for a large.
So pleased a friend recommended this place. The service is friendly and genuine. The food is great.... well what we've tried has been great. The fish and chips - delish! Beautiful flaky fish, really good chips. The yiros is fantastic. The meat is juicy and well seasoned, the bread is amazing. I keep meaning to try one of the home-made baklava sitting on the counter... next time.
Fabulous! Delicious! Excellent service. Seriously couldn't complain. So many different meats, cooked beautifully and sooo tasty. Personal favourite was rump cap and the pork loin and the pork neck. The sides were great too. And... they make a mean caipirinha. Highly recommend. Bring your appetite. $56pp plus drinks.
