My family and I travel 1 hour to eat at this pizza cafe and the food never lets us down. The pizza's a delicious and use all local produce. We finished off with a Banana Cream Caramel pie for dessert today and it was sensational. Not overly sweet like some and was topped with a sprinkle of chocolate, dried fruit and almond slivers.

Came by this restaurant in a tourism brochure and decided to try it out for their award winning pizzas. Mine was slightly disappointing as the crust was rather thick and the amount of toppings on mine while nice, caused the base to be soggy. However others in my group really enjoyed their meals so maybe I was just unlucky!

A staff at a cellar door highly recommended this restaurant during our trip to Barossa. So we thought it would be worth the drive back to Angaston, from Tanunda where we were staying (approx 20mins drive). Smacking our lips in anticipation for the award winning pizzas, we were stoked to find out they were willing to do a half and half pizza. We ordered half Lamb & Kipfler Potato pizza and half of Smokey (they don't do half and half for small pizzas). We also ordered a serve of Caesar Salad. I enjoyed the Lamb and potato pizza a lot though my partner said it was a tad underseasoned. As for the Smokey, the first slice was delicious and packed with flavour, but by the 2nd slice, the salt build-up started to get a little bit challenging due to the toppings - plenty of cured and smoked meats. I guess its more suitable for a big group where a few varieties could be ordered and not half a Smokey shared between 2 ppl. They were certainly generous with the toppings! Caesar salad was the standard fare. Ambience-wise, it was an ok cafes-style ambience with hardly any table service. All in all, it was good but not great.

My husband and I travel to Angaston (over an hour's drive) for the best pizza ever. Saw it one of the current affair shows one night that this cafe had won awards for The Best Gourmet Pizza in Australia - The Smoky. Tried it out and have been back half a dozen times since. It's delicious. Really delicious. It is however one of the more expensive pizzas I've ever had but the taste is worth it - I believe. Would recommend the drive especially if you go the back way through Birdwood etc. Very scenic.

They describe the pizza here as 'The Best in SA' and it seems like it was going to meet expectations. The staff were all buzzing and everything was going accordingly.
However, when the pizzas came, they were a bit too salty and the haiwiian didn't have any taste. Bit disappointing overall so didn't think too much of it.
Bit pricey for not that great pizza
