One of the best places for coffee. Where else can you pick up a amethyst with your latte? Delightful for lunch or breakfast. Really cosy, great service.

Approximate cost: $15

My friend and I had lunch at the café today. It was a cold rainy day so the café and Upwey in general was fairly quiet which made our visit relaxing and enjoyable. The menu has plenty of tasty meals to choose from and while the prices do seem a little high, the meals are large and are good value for money - just make sure you go hungry or go with the soup. Our food was really good and the service was friendly and helpful. We spent ages at the café and we were asked if we would like to order other drinks but in no way did we feel pressured to order. I would be happy to go again.

A warm welcome, bright smiles. Best coffee in the street by fair. Food was excellent. Great range. Raw, vegan, gluten free options from mains to desserts. Great variety of healers and practitioners. Crystals galore.

Approximate cost: $13.95

Abitza is the latest addition to the Upwey township, offering various healing modalities, as well as a cafe and small retail area.
I dined here for lunch. The cafe aspect of the business felt a bit amateurish, particularly the menus which look like they have been done at home in Microsoft Word, and don't open up properly.
I was therefore surprised to see the prices of the mains, quite a few of which were 19.95. There was a soup for 8ish dollars, and a few price points in between.
I ordered the Thai prawn salad, which is usually $19.96, but was on the specials board for $16.95. I also ordered a chai latte.
I was disappointed with the size of the meal which was on the smaller size. They use Arkadia powder for the chais, which I thought a bit odd given that it is a holistic healing centre. I expected lots of wholesome, healthy organic selections, and would have thought they would use Calmer Sutra or the Phoenix Chai syrup.
The kids menu had nuggets, nachos and chips on it, which seemed incongruous again, given that it is a healing centre.
The salad was nice, but I think they are charging city prices for a small suburban cafe that has no real wow factor.
It lacked atmosphere. We were the only diners there. There was no music playing, so it was very quiet. The room we were in wasn't very well lit and so felt dark and dim.
I wouldn't return. Magpie Cafe a few doors down is much more reasonably priced and has much healthier options. I think Abitza has missed the mark.

Imagine my surprise to join this site and see already a review....albeit a very negative view.
I appreciate your feedback and acknowledge that at the time you visited we had been open 2 weeks and were fairly amateurish. We certainly made no secret of this. My apologies that we did not meet your standard. We are always making changes and attempting to improve ourselves. I accept your feedback and hope that in the future you will consider another visit.
