Good experience opening a business account, although they sent me home then rang me 2 days later as I didn't sign all paperwork. I wasn't happy then. Good bank, great service over the phone.

Approximate cost: $30

Staff were not overly helpful appeared to just be interested in 'doing their job'. My consultant had a nice smile but others had no smile on their faces and looked like they just wanted to finish up for the day and go home. The queue went by quickly which was good and the overall experience was satisfactory but there is definite room for improvement with customer interaction.

First of all, I have been hearing a lot from friends and from the TV advertisement that ANZ bank customer service is good and worth trying it out. So, one day I decided to apply for my second credit card with ANZ bank. My first credit card is with NAB, and still holding that. So, I went into the ANZ branch as Bourke St Mall with my wife, bringing along all my necessary bill etc for verification. I was served by an Asian customer officer. Her communication skills didn't impress me. Her patience is limited. When she come to verify our details, she said our names appeared differently in our bills. I explained to her that it is not our fault as many Australian business prefer (almost always) to hide our middle name away. I can understand that she is performing her duty but the way she treat us is far from satisfactory. She just said that "I'm doing my job or you can talk to my supervisor. There is nothing else I can do!!" She speaks in a very impatient manner. I have been in customer service line before and I know that I can explain it in a much more softer manner. At then end, she forced us to bring all the documents back for verification. As a first time customer, I am just shock to see this kind of bad service, and wonder why ANZ willing to pay millions of dollar for a TV commercial yet didn't focus on the simple direct customer service at their branch. Since then, I have been banking with NAB and don't want to involve with ANZ any further. I will summarise my second encounter with ANZ phone banking customer officer in the next entry.
