I had a thai yellow tofu curry which has coconut milk in it and it was excellent. Great vegetarian options. Great place to go with friends. Very popular in the area. Friendly staff. Great prices. Great tasting food.

The food is always so tasty at Balas and the serving sizes are very generous. At busier times you sometimes struggle to get seating inside but as they do take away and there's a park across the road, this isn't usually a problem.

This place is located just off Acland Street. I used to live close to St Kilda, so went there regularly. Balas has a good selection of Thai and Indian curries, tasty entrees (curry puffs etc.) and breads - roti, naan. Excellent for vegetarians with delicious lentil and tofu dishes. The dishes are on display, so it's easy to choose and the service is very quick. Great spot to sit by the window and enjoy the atmosphere. Good value lunch boxes for $8-$9.
