I was very happy with the waxing service. The premises is very clean. The beautician is friendly and happy to explain the treatments.
The food is always so tasty at Balas and the serving sizes are very generous. At busier times you sometimes struggle to get seating inside but as they do take away and there's a park across the road, this isn't usually a problem.
Approximate cost: $9 - $15
I've been going to this hair salon for over 15 years now. The staff are friendly and they do really good haircuts which don't just look good on the day of the cut but continue to look good until the next cut.
They are constantly updating the salon to keep it looking modern and trendy.
Approximate cost: $68
I purchased an apple strudel slice to serve up for guests at lunch on Sunday. The strudel was delicious and laden with apples. This place is great if you need to buy a cake last minute as they have plenty of different cakes/slices available - and you don't need to order them in advance.
Approximate cost: $13.50
I purchased 13 bagels over the weekend as we had people coming for lunch. The lady that served me was very patient when i placed my order and instead of giving me bagels that had been on the shelf for a while, got fresh ones that had just come out of the oven and were still hot.
Approximate cost: $90 cents per bagel
We dined at Hotel Nest last weekend and were more than disappointed with it. As the restaurant section is right next to the bar area it was extremely noisy and hard to hear conversations within our own table. There is a door between the restaurant and bar but it is permanently open.
On our table there were only a couple of people that ordered entrees and so they asked for them to be brought at the same time as the mains were served. This did not occur and the entrees were brought out first. From the time we sat down until our main meals were served we waited over 1.5 hours.
After our main meals were eaten and the dishes cleared away, the waitress brought over the dessert menus for us to have a look at. She came back a few minutes later and said she was sorry but the kitchen had closed. So she took the menus away. Then she came back a few more minutes later and said she had misunderstood and the kitchen was closed for main meals but we could still have dessert. At this stage we had had enough of the poor service and decided to leave.
It is a shame the service was so bad as the food itself was actually quite good – although a little overpriced.
Approximate cost: $34 for a steak.
We visited this cafe over the weekend and were very impressed with it. The staff had no problems when we said we needed 4 high chairs at our table. You could see that everyone working there loved kids and they didn't mind catering to our requests.
The play area in the court yard at the back of the cafe is perfect for entertaining little children while they wait for their meals to be served.
The food was very tasty and everyone was served their meals at the same time.
Approximate cost: $15
For big families or if you're planning a party or event, Costco is great because you have to buy everything in bulk. I have found the prices to be generally cheaper than the normal shelf prices of Coles or Woolworths. But if you buy at Coles/Woolworths when things are on sale then you can get them cheaper than at Costco.
On the weekends they have staff giving out samples of some of the products which is great bceause you get to try things you wouldn't necessarily buy before hand.
Costco has a great range of ready made meals in their fridge section as well as a huge variety of fresh produce. They don't stock several brands of the same item though so you often have to make do with the brand they stock if you want a particular product.
We recently dined at Breezes to celebrate our 3 year wedding anniversary. The food was generally good except the salad was very salty and the serving sizes of the meals were quite small. The food was on the expensive side but i guess being inside the casino you would expect this.
I started going for physio treatments and since that issue was resolved have been going weekly for pilates classes. All pilates classes are run by qualified physios. They provide personalised exercises based on your own requirements and ensure that you always do the exercises correctly so as not to inflict further injury on your body. The only downside is that the pilates classes are quite expensive if done regularly ($30 per class) - some of which is claimable on private health insurance.
