I used to be an ex resident of Russell Island and getting my goods delivered by Bay island carriers was one of the only was I would be able to receive them. I think this company I great, my goods turned up in perfect condition and the day they were told they arrived, they helped me get it into the house as well

As an ex resident of Macleay Island I have used Bay Island Carriers many times. It can be a bit of a pain if you need stuff delivered from out of the Redland Bay area as you have to get it transported to Bay Island Carriers first and then they bring it to the islands. It can add significantly to the cost. As the main carrier for the islands they can and do charge what they want so it can be a little expensive at times. The service thought is prompt and goods are delivered when expected.

Thanks for your review from 2013. Be assured that Bay Island Carriers, renamed Bay Island Transport since 2016 is now under new ownership.

Living on an island that has no bridge to the mainland means that residents are almost totally dependent on the services of couriers for the transport of large, heavy, or difficult to carry items. The passenger ferries have limits on the size and type of goods that can be transported, and barge costs are pretty much prohibitive in respect of carrying the goods yourself by car.

Bay Island Carriers is one of several companies that transport goods from the mainland to the four Southern Moreton Bay Islands (SMBI) of Russell, Lamb, Macleay and Karragarra. They also appear to be the preferred sub-contractor for nation wide carriers which courier goods from interstate. These large firms are naturally reticent to complete the final part of the journey by barge.

I've had Bay Island Carriers deliver me several large white goods that I had purchased through oo.com.au. The goods arrived in perfect condition, however the delivery schedule left much to be desired. Firstly, Bay Island Carriers only deliver to Russell Island three times per week. Secondly, they only advise you of the day, rather than the time, of delivery. In both cases the goods weren't delivered until after 5.15 p.m. Thank goodness that I hadn't waited at home all day for them to arrive!

Thanks for your review from 2012. Be assured that Bay Island Carriers, renamed Bay Island Transport since 2016 is now under new ownership and we are on Russell Island 5 days a week.
