I had two really excellent meals here while I was staying in Adelaide. This restaurant served delicious food with lots of choice as well as friendly and helpful service. I recommend that you try their special nan breads which are really special and arrive puffed up like little balls.

Sophisticated and quality of food is second to none. We've been dining here for many years now and we find the quality of food and service has never waivered in that time.

Love this restaurant, has the best Indian food ever!
After reading so many wonderful reviews on this restaurant, my husband and I just knew that this was the place for us to go for our wedding anniversary. I believe this is one of the best Indian restaurants in Adelaide (we have been to quite a few). We found the customer service to be excellent, the food just mouth watering, we couldn't wait to get started. Tried the mixed entree, loved the bhiajus, pakaros and samosas, so delicious. For mains my husband had the vindaloo and yes it was very hot (just the way he likes it), I tried it but it was way tooooooo hot for me - I really needed a drink. I was extremely happy with my absolutely delicious mild lamb korma. We also had the rotis with our meals - this is a must. Love rotis and their pappadoms and sweet mango chutney. We did feel the prices were a little high, but well worth it, you could really taste the quality. We had a fabulous anniversary dinner at this wonderful indian restaurant with very friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere. Will be returning with friends next time. Highly recommend.

Hi Shazzbot1,
Thank you so much for the wonderful words about our Bay of Bengal restaurant. It is great for us to hear that the food and the service is to your liking as we always strive to meet those standards. Again, cheers and we look forward to seeing you again.
The Bay of Bengal Team
Terrific review Shazzbot1. Great to hear that your anniversary dinner went well at the Bay of Bengal. I can't believe that people like your husband love the heat of vindaloos. I'm like you, happy with a delicious Lamb Korma or a Lamb Saag which is always the case at the Bay of Bengal at Glenelg. :)
Bay of Bengal is one of the best Indian restaurant in Adelaide. The prices are bit expensive compare to other ordinary restaurants but you will love the quality. There are some room for improvements into customer service.
Approximate cost: $35
Thank you so much for your positive review and thanks for the feedback on our customer service. It is always valuable to hear feedback, both good and not so good so that we can continue to work hard to get it right. Thanks again.

We visited this charming restaurant for the first time using a voucher.... which unlike some other businesses, did not detract from the service or quality of food provided. We added the suggested accompaniments to our curries which complimented the already plentiful meal superbly. Other positives include comfortable chairs, quality glassware & good size portions. We enjoyed a delicious dining experience & will certainly return .
Approximate cost: $23
I have read so many great reviews for this restaurant, my husband and I will be going for our annversary. Can't wait.
Hi juleem1, We're very happy that you enjoyed your visit to the Bay of Bengal. You mention the voucher and we have been thrilled with the response to the past two offers. As you said, you can select any meal and indeed wine on our list for your voucher meal. We think this is how all voucher deals should be but we're happy to be different to the other restaurants too :)
Thank you again for your WOMO review.
Cheers,
The team at the Bay of Bengal
Not not ordinary Indian eatery, yes, the meals are a bit more expensive but worth it! Dell and the crew do a great job, service is friendly and the food is delicious, try the fish curry, sensational!
Approximate cost: $22.00
Thank you for your comment. It is always nice to hear that people have enjoyed their visit to us. And your right, the Fish Curry is very tasty. :)
I have read a few reviews for this restaurant now and I will definitely be going here in the next week or so. I must have the "Vindaloo"!
I have dined at the Bay of Bengal for many years now. The meals are always tasty, the staff are friendly and I find the atmosphere pretty good too. I love their Lamb Saag but I like to try different meals that I have not had before. All have been enjoyed although I now know I am not a fan of Vindaloo. Way to hot for me.
A few years ago I had my birthday celebration there as well and my guests all enjoyed their food and had a good time. Worth a visit.
Approximate cost: $21
Thanks for your review, I love vindaloo, the hotter the better. Sounds like I need to try this restaurant.
Thanks Just_My_Opinion. Yes, Vindaloo is one of those meals that you either love or not. It's good to hear that we have other meals that you like. Cheers.
I looked at the menu on their website and have to say this restaurant looks great, I am really looking forward to trying their Bhiajus, Lamb Rogan Josh and of course that HOT Vindaloo (a favourite of my husbands - loves hot food), Our anniversary is coming up and this looks like the place to go. Thanks for reviewing, we are looking forward to trying this delicious looking food.
This long established and charming restaurant offers the diner a unique and varied menu of superb indian curries.
Enjoy the experience of their authentic curry, complemented by one of the many fine wines available from their wine list- bottled or by the glass.
We go here often and it is a bit hit or miss with the service and food. Friday was a great night for both and were even told what the desert special was (was not told earlier of entree or main specials). Although the service can be mediocre the quality of the food is usually good.
Approximate cost: $22
The service was great - no complaints at all. The food was tasty however the quality in the meat was very poor. I had more globs of fat and gristle than actual meat in my rogan josh. Prices were higher than the average indian restaurant and so I was expecting more.
“Timeless grace is what this place is all about. Good food that's consistent”…
