Really enjoyed the food and coffee here. Little on the expensive side, but absolutely worth it. The courtyard out the back is great, too.

The coffee is devine, the staff are all very friendly and the food is fresh and delicious. Its a great atmosphere too and family friendly. Can get very busy on the weekends but there's usually a table available somewhere (there's also a courtyard out the back).

Approximate cost: $15-20

My standout yeehaa moment at this cafe is when I realised they don't charge extra for gluten free bread.

The coffee is outstanding...and great to see that it is FairTrade. Food menu is as to be expected - the usual faves.

The service is always quick, easy. I don't ever remember waiting to be served.

Seating is available inside amongst the various art exhibited, outside in the courtyard under the trees (with a children's play area) or on the footpath under wide black umbrellas.

A relaxed way to spend a Sunday morning or to grab a decent coffee to head in to the City on the train.

Conveniently situated near Fairfield Station but just far enough from busy Station Street, Bean Counter offers a relaxed, no-fuss breakfast and light lunch option to Station Street cafes. It seems popular with the bicycle set on weekends, and is family friendly with an enclosed garden space as well as low traffic footpath tables. The coffee ranges from average to good (on a good day the long black is not super-heated and bitter, but just hot enough with a good crema on top). Breakfast variation are good, and pricing is a little above the other Station Street options - but value if you add in the ambience and the reduced decibel level from high street traffic. I particularly like the perfectly poached eggs on toast.

Approximate cost: $8-12
