I have eaten here for over 10 years, and the food has ranged from good to just so. In the last three months we have eaten here three times and the food has been impressive. Lots of fresh ingredients, well prepared, and a pleasant balance of tastes. On our last visit we enjoyed the seek kebabs, burrah kebabs and samosa starters. The Chef's special beef curry, chicken korma, and aloo gobi were full of flavour and fresh ingredients. I am happy to go back for more.

A truly great bakery with some serious breads as well as pastries, Dench's has some of the most satisfying breakfasts in Melbourne. I have yet to have a bad coffee, I love the toast (of course) and the bacon that is served with my free range eggs (variably poached, fried and scrambled) is delicious - I think it comes from Daylesford. This has been a very popular destination for breakfast or just buying bread and until now its tiny space and small tables have resulted in some wait times. But it seems that they are now expanding Westward into the adjoining building, and perhaps we can now set a table for six on Saturday breakfast.

Conveniently situated near Fairfield Station but just far enough from busy Station Street, Bean Counter offers a relaxed, no-fuss breakfast and light lunch option to Station Street cafes. It seems popular with the bicycle set on weekends, and is family friendly with an enclosed garden space as well as low traffic footpath tables. The coffee ranges from average to good (on a good day the long black is not super-heated and bitter, but just hot enough with a good crema on top). Breakfast variation are good, and pricing is a little above the other Station Street options - but value if you add in the ambience and the reduced decibel level from high street traffic. I particularly like the perfectly poached eggs on toast.

This review is for Everest Indian, Fairfield VIC

Everest used to be quite a reasonable Indian restaurant, but these days the quality of food and service fails to match the prices. The last time we had butter chicken the masala tasted as though it had been made with Heinz Big Red and not tomato puree. The onion bhaji were dry onion rings in oily chick pea batter, and the bara kebab was dry (and seemed twice cooked)

A very good breakfast menu, well prepared and with quality ingredients, especially the organic bread and the home made tomato relish. Coffee is usually very good, but can suffer a little when its frantically busy (Sundays) from being delayed in its passage to your table (as can your breakfast).

We have had breakfast only on six or more occasions in the last year and quite enjoyed the food. Thick sourdough toast (with butter delivered for you to use as you wish) is set on a large plate with generally well prepared and presented eggs (poached and fried nicely runny) but inconsistent delivery of scrambled eggs (can be too 'wet' at times or too rubbery). The interior is light-filled, and there are tables outside (covered area as well as footpath). Muesli, muffins and pancakes are also available.

Great variety of cooking / kitchen equipment and foodie gadgets, with regular stock updates. Periodic sales and specials make it worth dropping in to snag a bargain. They also carry a reasonable range of crockery and glassware, including Riedel. Also a handy spot for gift purchases.

As a family we have been using this pharmacy for over 20 years. Whilst there are other pharmacies in the street the personal interest shown and care taken by all staff as well as the pharmacists here is a constant and is valued.

This review is for Denn Restaurant, Northcote VIC

We are regular weekend breakfast visitors to Denn, and dine here 5 to 6 times a year as well. The breakfast menu is imaginative, well prepared and uses quality ingredients. Dinner is always a busy affair as the food is good and the prices are reasonable, but as there are several areas to the restaurant and it has high ceilings, the noise of quite a few happy customers is not really an issue. Their wood fired breads and pizzas are quite good, as are their tapas, and I particularly like the mini meatballs with Napoli sauce, basil and fresh Parmesan. We recently had the paella which was quite good - properly cooked rice, with the other items all cooked to their right stages (perhaps the chorizo could have been a little spicier). A small, but varied and affordable wine list - although it would be nice to see more wines by the glass. Friendly staff and effective service in a relaxed environment.

This review is for O & R Cardamone Gourmet, Fairfield VIC

A cross between a small supermarket and a a specialty food store, Cardamone has a great range of Mediterranean groceries (dried pulses and legumes, tinned tomatoes, dried pasta, sardines, olives, capers, salamis) and a very large cheese selection. The store also houses Marisa's Kitchen, offering a big range of freshly prepared antipasti, prepared olives, dips, sauces, cured meats, lasagne, pizza and finger foods. Great value and a good variey. I love shopping here and there isn't a week in which I don't buy something to put on the table.
