Beautiful cakes! They have a great range of cakes, and I have liked them all so far. It is pretty pricey but worth it considering what you are getting!
If you are looking for a homemade style cake, Beatrix is the place to be. I went to Beatrix with extreme apprehension, but I was not disappointed. The cheesecake there was so amazing, it was so creamy and perfect. The doughnuts there are great too. Every cake there is perfection. The service is superb.
Nice trendy cafe, quite popular. The cake slices are quite large, really worth the money. The cakes are rich and decadent, really delicious.

Beatrix is a little bit different to the usual good, popular brunch cafe. It is to small, relatively quiet, staffed with only a few but friendly and cheerful waiters. The vibe and surrounds are relaxed and quaintly cosy. None of the cavernous, industrial chic which is so popular these days.
Beatrix is one of my favourite places for a really good baguette/roll/bun or coffee & cake, or on the weekends a sumptuous classic brunch.
I love their 4 layer red velvet cake, the lemon chiffon, the lime tart, dark chocolate flourless cake, tarte tartin. In fact Beatrix is almost a de facto cake shop.
If you're after a scrumptious not-so-healthy treat, Beatrix is the place for your sweet tooth (oh, by all means they do coffees and lunches too). My problem is deciding what to choose! Cafe is kinda small but they do take aways. Love that they post updates on Facebook, always tempted to drop in :)
Yum yum yum. Sums it all up.
Great quality cakes, breads, breakfast and lunch.
Menu and cabinet offerings change daily, and there is always something good. Most recently I had (and took away) passionfruit vanilla slice, red velvet cake and a ciabatta.
Well if you are trying to give up bread and/or cakes avoid this little place like the plague. Your will-power won't stand a chance against the deliciousness. It's not cheap but all the ingredients used are top notch and as local as possible (free-range meats) and the taste reflects this care. Their sandwiches overflow with amazing fillings, so big that you could share with a friend. A very, very good friend. The coffee is also really very good. Oh yeah and the cakes.....
Sounds really good.
A tiny little cafe but very cute and a counter display full of delicious baked treats! Takeaway is a bit slow but they will bring it out to you if you wait outside. The food is a little pricey but very tasty! I had the large slow cooked lamb & coleslaw ciabatta which was big enough to share with my hubby. Followed by a slice of red velvet cake which was beautiful. Will definately be back!
Beatrix is a newly opened cafe in what is the quiet, western part of North Melbourne. It specialises in delicious cakes and great coffee. Its decor is understated, with lovely pale timber tables and has an intimacy that some of the other more established cafes in the area lack.
The cupcakes are to die for, but my favourite treat is the Cocoa-Mo.
It's open most days, except Tuesdays.
As a local resident I encourage everyone in the area to visit. You won't be disappointed.
Update - Thanks to the lovely folks at The City of Melbourne, Beatrix now has outdoor tables, so you can now enjoy the gorgeous food in the leafy part of Queensberry St.
