So I heard a client talking about this place and thought i'd give it a go for a date, and it was lack lustre to say the least. It was so busy, there was a huge line to get into the next rooms, for such a busy place i'd think that maybe they'd have someone kind of walking around maybe showing people where to go next ( by that i mean rushing them out and stop them from playing the same holes over and over and kids running around unattended interrupting your little game)
It looked cool, but that's about it really. It's not made for adults in my opinion, small shoved together course.

I thought this place was well worth my money. I went in a group with my friends and every room was lovely. If you wore white clothes you glow, which was definitely one of the cooler parts. The variety of the rooms was amazing and it just goes to show how versatile some things get. Because there was no one else there it was such a breeze getting from room to room because we didn't have to wait for anyone. In every room it displays a different part of Australia, specifically designed to show off each state, this place is magical. I went there just a few weeks ago on a date and it still managed to amaze me. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.

Approximate cost: $Adult- $14

My 4 year old son loves mini golf, so when I found out there was an indoor glow in the dark mini golf at Docklands, I was keen to attend on a hot day and bask in their air con whilst having a whirl on the course.
I emailed prior to coming in, as I wasn't sure my son would feel comfortable on the course and he is a little afraid of the dark. They charge $5 for spectators/walkthroughs due to people apparently playing with their friends clubs without paying. The owner let me know that if my son was not comfortable by the 2nd/3rd hole, that we could get a refund and leave. Excellent. He asked when I would be coming in, and I told him Tuesday.
Fast forward to today. We make a special trip in to play Black Light Mini Golf. When we get there, I'm asked by the staff member which group we're with- a little perplexed, I reply 'none'. He tells me that there are 40 children now inside and that I should go and come back in at least half an hour. I was very annoyed after having already told the owner which day I would be in on, that no mention was made of such a large group booking.
Happily, children up to 4 play free. Most places charge from 4 and up so this was a nice surprise.
When we got in, it was very frustrating. We had to wait a long time, as the group that was in there kept doubling back and playing holes they had already played. They walked all over the course and generally got in our way and made for a less than pleasurable playing experience.
The interior decorating is pretty shabby. Spray painted arrows on the floor. Many holes are close together and you really have to look carefully to see where you need to putt. In reviews on TripAdvisor, the owner has defended this as being so people of all abilities can play. However, I cannot see how someone in a wheelchair/zimmer frame could move around easily, as parts of the course are not well lit at all. Even I tripped over in parts and hit my ball into many obstacles that I could not see.
At $13 for an adult, I expected much better. I have played many mini golf courses, and most charge around $7.
Black Light has so much potential, but it is so poorly executed.
We will not be back. Wetlands Mini Golf and Maroondah Adventure Park are far better options in Melbourne, albeit not in a convenient city location, which is really the only drawcard of this place.

what a shame. I've been wanting to head here for a while but will give the others you mentioned a go instead. Thanks

I totally agree. I was just there today so I can relate ...

Hi Curlycee, reading your (detailed) reviews is always a pleasure! A personal disclaimer hereâ?¦one of our familyâ??s pet peeves is businesses who charge a â??spectatorâ?? fee. We believe that this practice should be outlawed, as we donâ??t believe it is an honest way to make money. From what you have described, the course sounds a little dodgy however many of these places are. Irrespective of this, the customer service element could certainly be improved upon. Thanks for the heads-up! Reeces
