We had dinner there last night. After the waiter spilled beer over me and offered very little in terms of pardon - or even a free beer. The meals were reasonable but nothing to write home about. And this is very over priced, your looking at $40 for a main and 2 drinks! ouch! I would not recommend this place!

Great food and huge portions. I loved the stuffed schnitzels. You need to book as it is very popular. Great for a group function.

Went to Budapest 2 mins before 6.00 pm. They offer a meal for $12.00(Happy hour)provided you're in before 6 pm and out by 6.30 pm. Waitress declined our protests that we were in before 6. She said a meal could be obtained for $19.50 anyway. When the bill came it was $22.00. It was the principle more than the price. That particular waitress was in charge that night and used her power to be arrogant, lacking in people skills and creating an unpleasant scene. When is the customer never right, I ask you with tears in my eyes? Neither my friend or I will ever enter the restaurant again due to the unpleasantness of the woman in charge. I feel sorry for management having put such a person in control and suggest they revise their situation if they want people to frequent their establishment. The food is good but the staff are incorrigible.

Absolutely agree with you. Been there four times, booking a week ahead for downstairs, when arriving, waiter/waitress pretends there's been a mistake, wanting to usher us upstairs. Upstaiss has no atmosphere, plain old yellow walls.
Overpriced average food. Chef/owner did better at Newmarket Hotel. Most likely because he did all the cooking there, whereas here, he has his "helpers". This is no authentic Hungarian fare, more like, restaurant Hungarian food.
Yes, staff can and will be arrogant.
