My cat has been a patient at this practice for 15 years. Lately I have suspected that standards have been dropping and have recently had an experience that made me seek a second opinion only to find that my cat was really not given the best care. Our concerns were dismissed, we were advised to take him off medication that had been prescribed by the animal hospital after extensive investigations, only to be called later in the day in a panic to advise not to take him off the medication. The cat became very unwell after the consultation and had to be rushed to another vet 2 days later. This vet was able to make a diagnosis which was confirmed that if the blood test results, scan results and a thorough consultation had been conducted by Burke Rd, a competent vet would have easily identified this issue. Instead the cat was left to needlessly suffer for another 48 hours. These are things I believe could have been prevented if the consultation had been thorough, the vet had listened to our concerns and not been condescending, and not been running 30 mins late, disorganised and unprepared for the consultation. She had not read the reports from the hospital and seemed to have no idea how unwell the cat had been. When we raised our concerns, we were put on to the most junior vet in the practice who had no idea of our pet's history and was left to explain away the other vet's behaviour. I also had the misfortune of needing to use the toilet at one of our visits, behind the scenes, the practice is grubby and chaotic, really reflecting how the practice is run.

When I first got my cat I did a LOT of research into vet clinics and ended up trying Burke Rd vet. They're not the closest to me by a long shot but I don't mind the drive (my cat might tell you otherwise!) for the quality of service I receive. The staff are always so happy to see my cat and lavish him with attention. There's a photo wall in reception of people's pets which is great to see - it shows that they're not just a business, they really love what they do and their furry friends!

My cat had had to have his teeth cleaned a couple of times and the staff were more than willing to discuss the various options available to me and let me know which things were essential and which weren't if money was an issue - which it was a bit so it was nice to know certain medications etc were good but not essential. They could also see I was nervous having him put to sleep for the cleaning but gave me plenty of assurance and looked after him so well. They also gave me great advice for diet and I've been trying a new food and fingers crossed, my cats got his dental health back in check and won't require professional cleaning again.

I highly recommend this vet clinic to anyone in (or out like me!) the area, Tina is particularly awesome!

They offer great service to my dog. The staff are caring and nice. They even did a free dental check a few months ago which i thought was a fantastic offer.
They always have treats available for your dog/cat.
I think the vaccinations are a little expensive compared with the RSPCA but I guess because it is in Camberwell it is expensive.
