I thought this would be amazing way to take the wife out to enjoy our night-i found that the food was just okay and a bit pricey, but anyway the view was amazing.

A Latte at the Intercontinental costs $7

So you would expect their buffet lunch to be a gastronomic indulgence, out stripping the best Michelin experiences possible.

Unfortunately it was nothing more than average, nothing more than some decent seafood , dry roasts and a desert selection which was plentiful in number, but lacked a knocked out cake to make anyone come back.

The seafood included crab claws (which weren't cracked properly) and no tools available. Prawns, muscles and bland sushi. A Nice selection of chicken and vegetable dishes - but again, nothing you mother can't make given the time on a Sunday morning.

I felt the roasts of pork and beef were a little dry and could have been better timed for the lunch opening at 12pm.

I or my friends won't be rushing back and if You know Sydney, there are much better options for $10 cheaper. I felt the service staff rather 'snobby' which would have been fine if the food match the attitude.

A very average experience, coupled with very average food.

Approximate cost: $55

Good food & service. I dine in here with family many times. Last time came with overseas visitor. Unfortunately, lobster & Alsaka crab were missing on the menu.

Great venue and place, but the food wasn't that impressive, and the price certainly wasn't either! Good for a special occasion

Okay very pricey and the service was okay, the view of course was beautiful but that was really the only positive, sorry guys

Very disappointing - it looks more like a cafe than a 5-star hotel restaurant

sushis from the entree were prepared hours earlier, did not look fresh at all

the carving station looked more like a bbq place, the meat was dry

would not recommend people to go there, unless they do something about the food and the price

Approximate cost: $60

You should be aware of places which offer sushi as entree. Rule of thumb is that they're probably not going to be fresh or tasty. Of course if you go to a proper Japanese joint, that's a different story, but you don't often see 'sushi' on entree menu of a 'real Japanese' run place.

took my sister to cafe opera for the buffet,it did not look up to a 5star hotel cafe ive been to many buffet resturants in hotels, and there standerds was higher the pricers are too high for what they serve in the buffet the chicken looked dry and it tasted dry overcooked the lamb dish also dry and plain they need to change the buffet to what they charge as for desserts they were beter than the meals and dishes in the buffet will not go again

I agree about the prices of the food around Circular Quay. It's very overpriced.

Really shocked with the Cafe Opera's level and standard. For a 5 star hotel, I was definitely having higher expectations.
Chose to go to the Buffet Dining with the family - we were first seated outside (a bit like an overflow area - which is definitely not what we expected as we are paying $450 for the whole family..)
The buffet menu is not what you can see on the website, sushi rolls were NOT fresh (believe me, little asian restaurants in the CBD do better sushis..) and the mains were cold, look bland and dry meat when it comes to lamb and chicken. The restaurant itself is nice (it's a 5 star hotel) but it was a 1-star dining experience - would definitely not go there again unless they make major changes to their menu.
Desserts were the only plus, but who goes to dinner for desserts these days..
Very disappointed

Approximate cost: $65

wow I'm sorry to hear that you paid 450. I'd have asked for my money back.

Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the tip. It's shocking since this is 5 star hotel.
