GREAT Mexican food! I have only tried a limited number of Mexican restaurants but this place is the best. Love the cocktails for special occasions, as well as the vegetarian sizzling plates! Always served by great staff :)

Great food, great atmosphere, great deals and great staff. We have been going there during weekdays ( mon- wed) as they have great half price deals

If you are looking for authentic delicious, mouthwatering mexican food, then this is the place to go. I did think it was a bit pricey (around $20+ for a main meal) but the food really is great and they are generous with the servings. I thought the banquet was the best way to go because you get to try quite a few different meals and it is fun with a group of people, not knowing what is coming out next. Found the service to quick and the staff friendly even when busy. Love their faijtas and nacho's - a definite must have. If you don't wish to pay full price, go monday - wednesday as it is half price meals. Highly recommend, definitely returning.

Food was decent. Prices were higher than I expected for smaller servings than other mexican restaurants I have been to. Service was quite slow but we did enjoy our meals enough that they dont deserve a low rating.

My meal was fantastic. After a shared entrée of the Carlos Potachos, which was basically nachos with potato wedges instead of corn chips, I ordered the Fajita Vegetales, and was given a piping hot pan of fresh vegetables cooked in a ranch sauce. Another plate held lettuce, guacamole and rice, and yet another had 4 fajita wraps, plus cheese sour cream and salsa.

I found this to be the best mexican restaurant around.
The food is delicious, the serves are generous and service is usually great. If it's busy, the food can take a while to come out.
Monday through Wednesday nights most meals are half price. You have to book for these nights, and they have two sittings. The tables are quite close together so when the restaurant is full, it's quite loud. Not the kind of place to linger over a meal, but great value and great food.

This would be the best Mexican food I have ever had! I had the Nachos for entree and it was huge...I wonder how big the main size is? It was not only big but perfect. Just the right amount of guacomole, sour cream and salsa. Mmmm...For main the vegetarian combination was also huge and very tasty! The only slight let down was that the staff were a little inexperienced. Not all, but most. I will be back very soon for sure. If you are after great tasting Mexican food get on down here.." Arriba! Arriba! Andale! Andale!!"

the food here was amazing. i had a banquet and the food was fantastic. the desserts were to die for. not just a small portion it was a proper full dessert. i got the death by chocolate and it was yummo. only drawback was the staff seemed a bit inexperienced but they were nice people.

Really yum food, noisy yes, but most Mexican restaurants I eaten at are. It's fun with friendly, efficient service and delicious food. We love it!

I booked a table for our family at 6pm, and was told that it was booked at 7.30pm so we would need to be out by then. No problem at all. Service here is fast and friendly. We had our meals within 15 minutes of entering Carlos Cantina.
Caramel milkshakes were tasty. The kids' meal came out first which is always appreciated.
I ordered the Chicken Combinacion, which was nice, but looks so unappealing on the plate! At $21.50, I'm not sure I thought it was the best value for money.
My husband had a burrito which he enjoyed.
The high chair was clean which is always a bonus.
The restaurant was around half full, and it was so noisy that it was difficult to hear ourselves talking.
Overall, a very family friendly restaurant, but I don't think I would return unless I had a 'buy one get one free mains' card that they hand out when you pay the bill.

Nice restaurant - atmospheric and recently renovated.
I would say this restaurant seems the nicest one in the whole of Boronia - we stayed nearby for a week and looked around for better restaurants nearby and couldnt find any that were up to the mark.
Food is really nice authentic mexican food and great value for money.
Staff are pleasant to deal with.

Service with a smile, and GREAT food. Mon - Wed discounts also makes dining out a lot more affordable without compromising quality. We go there for take away and eat in frequently and have never been disappointed.

I booked a table for my anniversary and the experience ruined our night! The restaurant itself has little or no character or atmosphere, it was over crowded and overbooked to the point that one could hardly move inside, it was so loud from the excessive amount of people in the room that I got a headache and the echo was atrocious. It took 15 minutes to receive a glass of water and a virgin Margarita and 25 minutes to receive our food. The meal we got was not what we ordered, it was soggy, cold and poorly presented on the plate! We told the manager who didn't charge for the meal but made no apologies about quality or service, justifying our horrible experience by claiming that's how all restaurants are when busy. My recommendation is avoid this place like the plague and eat at Taco Bills who I've never had a problem with in 5 years of attendance. This place turned me off trying new eateries.

Great food, best Mexican I've tasted. The coffee afterward was delicious but it did get busy later so you may want to reserve a table before going down to make sure you get a spot.

We've been to this restaurant several times since it's opened, all with different qualities of service.

The food is fresh & tasty & they have a great menu.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is lacking a little.
Very loud & echo's with people chatting (it has a tiled floor & very bare walls) Maybe some quiet Mexican/Spanish music in the background & some more Mexican rugs on the walls (there's currently 1) would dampen the sound of people talking as it is very loud.

During our most recent visit with friends, the service was quite bad. First our drinks orders were wrong (maybe the very young waiter couldn't hear us properly over the noise?) Then we had a spill of drinks & when we asked the waiter for a cloth to wipe up the liquid (after finally getting his attention) he just walked over & dropped a dishcloth in front of my husband & walked away. After my husband cleaned up the spill, we were left with a dripping dishcloth on the table while we were eating.

Maybe I'm expecting too much?

As I said though, we have had good experiences there with service also. Though the noise is a big issue - very hard to have a conversation.

I'm sad to say we probably won't be eating there again.

I went there recently for lunch and was surprised to find such an upperclass establishment in our local area.

The meals came out with about 10 minutes between courses which was great for lunch, the staff were great and friendly and our drinks were never empty

I will definitely be returning
