Lovely cafe right by Albert Park Lake. The scenery when sitting outside is amazing. I had the fruit and granola that was very refreshing and great portion. A great place to stop by and enjoy a delicious and healthy breakfast, brunch or afternoon treat.

This is a great little cafe with views of albert park lake. Great place for coffee or for lunch -also child friendly. Theres a huge group table in the middle if you cant get an individual table. Lots of yummy cafe food choices and hot choices too. Sometimes they did a Laksa which was really yummy.

We had a great lunch here recently - the venue is very kid friendly as it opens up onto a grass lawn and is on the lake, but unlike lots of kiddie cafes, the food is fantastic. The menu is diverse - lots of salads, burgers etc, but also delicious dumplings. It's pretty busy, but we got a table ok. You can only book after 1.30pm.

I love Carousel! I have been to a Wedding in the main part of the building and it was just beautiful! The view over Albert Park to the city is one of the best in Melbourne. The cafe is just as impressive. Good sized menu with lots of amazing breakfast/brunch options. The staff in both venues are extremely helpful and and friendly. Would higly recommend going for a walk round Albert Park and popping in for brunch with friends.

Have eaten at carousel several times now and really think the food is great. A good selection of breakfast and lunch items which can be ordered all day. It is a good place to visit if you have a baby as there is plenty of room to manouvre prams or to place the baby capsule and the staff are always very obliging when i take my son. It can get busy, especially on the weekends which means you sometimes have to wait for a table but this is not a problem if you visit during the week. The views over the lake and towards the city are amazing.

Went to the cafe around the back of Carousel on the weekend. The staff were very friendly. We only had coffee, but the food being brought out looked very tempting! Massive glass windows give a great view over albert park lake. very light and airy. nice on a sunday morning.

Visited once for a Sunday morning breakfast. No tables left at 9.30am but they quickly moved us on to one as soon as one became available and staff kept us entertained and plied with water as we waited. There was the usual range of breakfast delights ranging from fresh fruit salad and yoghurt, muffins (always a favourite with me) and cooked breakfasts. By 10am things were really hotting up and some brave souls were seated on the outside decking overlooking the lake but they seemed quite happy out there and were not forgotten. Service was a little on the slow side but no worse than any busy cafe on a Sunday morning. My extra yoghurt didn't materialise and one of our party was not able to change one of the menu combinations but the convivial atmosphere meant that we were in a forgiving mood. And when I questioned the bill (I knew we hadn't had 12 coffees and a couple of babycinos) they knocked a few $$ off the bill. We had a great morning.

I have been to Carousel for breakfast many times - and not only in the morning! The all-day breakfast menu is great for lunch too. The views over the lake are great - try to score a seat near the windows in the winter months (when I've visited), but the deck section looks good for the warmer months.

I've had the Carousel Breaky and the Hash Browns (homemade), which I thoroughly recommend - same goes for the bircher muesli and the fruit salad. The quality of the food here is remarkable, even for a city with as many good cafes as Melbourne. Expect to see typical cafe breakfast dishes done with a bit of a twist here - just don't try to change the menu items too much. Apparently the chefs here don't like that.

What makes Carousel a particular treat is the service, which has been friendly and fun every time I've been there, even on Sunday morning when the place is packed. They'll keep you topped up with water and as many cups of the excellent coffee as you need. Or some bubbly if you're that way inclined.

Having visited both midweek and on the weekend, I'd advise a midweek breakfast or lunch if you have the chance. Midweek the place is quiet and peaceful, but even with competent staff it gets hectic when the mothers groups, toddlers in tow, dominate the area on Sunday morning, and service can be understandably slow at these busy times.

Approximate cost: $8-15
