A well family run cafe with plenty of variety to choose from, other than great chocolate.

It can be a little hard to find which is a good thing as it means it's never packed or full of people desperate to be seen. Rather, I always get a table. They also have highchairs which isn't the case for other cafe's in Chatswood. They made my 2 year old feel very welcome.

We had the Carre Big breakfast, with it's chorizo sausage and pickled vegetables (plus toast, bacon and eggs etc) it whisked me away to a cafe on the Mediterranean. Whilst my friend enjoyed the smoked salmon for breakfast.

Coffee is fine and worth the 'wait.' Prizes seemed reasonable and well worth it for the Chatswood area.

Free WiFi as well.

Approximate cost: $17.50

My friends and I popped into Carre Noir on a Sunday night for a quick catchup over supper. They have an area at the back of the shop where we face a high courtyard with a huge TV, we sat in the outdoor area under a cover. We ordered coffee, tea and a few cakes for desserts. They have a wide selection of cakes which was good. We ordered a chocolate moose cake, lemon and lime tart and an apple crumble. However, they came back telling us they didn't have anymore apple crumble, so we ordered a blueberry cheesecake. All the cakes were delicious and the coffee and teas were nice as well. The staff are very friendly, coming over a few times if everything is ok. However, they gave us the bill before we have finished eating our cake desserts because they don't close late and have to start packing up, which is a minus. The cakes cost around $7-9 per piece and the coffee/ tea cost around $4 per person, but having soy milk costs an extra 70 cents which we think is abit expensive. We will be back again for small gatherings since the location is good and parking is convenient.

Approximate cost: $15

This place looks beautiful, located by the new Library. The lawn in the middle looks great, it enhances my experience.

Ricotta pancakes were quite alright, steaks were good but nothing that I'd find to write home about.

It really is a wonderful place, probably the best in Chatswood to just chill out. If you don't like eating in, you can just grab a cup of coffee to go. Green grass will do the justice any given day.
