Went here over the weekend. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the light lunch portion exactly right. Grounds were very soggy but still pretty, and the peacocks out in force.

Just a short walk from the CBD there is absolutely no excuse not to visit here, plenty of walks for all levels of experience and skills, loads of area for young children to play and photo opportunities galore

I've been to the Gorge at least twice on family holidays and thoroughly enjoyed it. We did the big walk up the winding rock pathways and marvelled at the beautiful pools and scenery. There were some brave people swimming but I'm afraid I wouldn't do it.

Then the chairlift over the other section is fun but the first time we went when my children were small it was a teensy bit scary, I'd tell parents to hang on to your child like glue. The seats and bars are for large people with a lot of room under and around. I sat my child on my knee and kept one arm around her so we were wedged in.

Then we walked all around at the other end. There's a little playground hidden in the bushes and walked back down.

A very nice outing to go.

Approximate cost: $40 around for a family $15 adult, $12 concession and child under 15, under 3 free

First time there.
Chair lift is a good idea, but just walking is faster and you get to see more. Not sure I would use the chair lift again. But it's a good idea and nice to do at least once.

Approximate cost: $15 for return

This was wonderful. Great eateries and kiosk. Chairlift provides an awesome overview of the main part of the reserve and pool. Gardens and nice walkways to top it off. Awesome!!

Without doubt, the best thing about Launceston is the Gorge. The walk in is great (either up the Zig Zag track or the easier walk on the other side). Swimming in the river is cold but exhilleratingly refreshing. The cliff grounds gardens are great at any time of year. The best part is that its al free!
