They overcharge and over-service.

My friends' children who have had similar operations received bills approx $3k less than what we were charged with Dr Mala, even when the surgery happened at the same hospital.

Get a second opinion. It will likely save you thousands of dollars.

OVERCHARGE ALL SERVICES

Even when I make the claim with Medicare. They said the service which this clinic charge too expensive and overpriced-nearly 3 times. Medicare can't not change anything about the claim, they just warn us next time we need talk with this clinic about this problem.
The dentist never discuss about the treatment and the fee before they do anything, they just do it and then give to you the receipt asking you for paying full payment.

We went to MC Dental in Doncaster and that clinic recommended us to Dr Mala Desai. We went to Dr Mala Desai Clinic and the dentist just did exactly the same check as in previous clinic-MC Dental.

Going to this clinic is MEANINGLESS !

The [redacted due to personal identifier] will FORCE /BULLY you to sign hospital documents and FORCE / PRESSURE you to give your credit card details on the spot. Luckly I did not fall for this, I said No on repeat and walked out. I could not wait to get out of there!!!! I wanted to take home the documents and talk about it and make an informed descion with my husband but [redacted due to personal identifier] the [redacted due to personal identifier] clearly made it difficult for me to do that. It was also going to be thousands and she could not even give me the exact figure. So dodgy.
This clinic needs to be reported, you can't force people to sign contracts they have not read or agreed to and you certaintly can NOT force people to give you their credit card details.
So please do not go to this clinic. If you do go please beware... This will happen to you

If you are unlucky to be referred to see Dr. mala, please go for a second opinion before you make any decision as she will over treat your kid's teeth and add lots of unnecessary fees. Really bad experience, but luckily we went for two other local dentists opinions and withdrawed the surgery.

They didn't let you see your kids' treatments, Meanwhile parent will be brought to Dr. Mala's office and her assistant will come and talk about treatment plan with you and give you pressure to sign the form and provide credit card detail.

I dont know why Google reviews provided so many high ratings for Dr.mala, but seriously all I feel good about this dental clinic is beautiful environment. The rest are way over priced.

Ridiculously over-priced. We asked for a quote regarding our next appointment in 6 months time (after spending Hundreds of $) and when we attended this 6-monthly appointment, they refused to honour the quote they had given us! Refused to give us our own files to transfer to our new Dentist. Avoid if you can [redacted inflammatory generalisation]

We used this dentist after my son struggled having a tooth pulled out at our normal dentist. Several thousand later they were removed [redacted clinical content] but the dentist also wanted us to spend an extra few thousand having spacers and other work done. After having an orthodontist look in his mouth and tell us spacers weren't worthwhile we refused this service saving us another couple of thousand. We were basically mocked for making this choice. My son's current orthodontist also told us that spacers would have been unnecessary after that surgery and that children's dentists typically overservice. Once we started mentioning we wanted to change back our normal dentist from Dr Desai's they highlighted our file and encouraged us to stay basically saying we would be negligent leaving. We have now left and have saved a fortune! Very disappointed. Get a second opinion. Having a pretty waiting room doesn't warrant the massively inflated dental costs.

I wouldn't recommend this practice. Your child will be over serviced & you will be overcharged! I was even charged for X-Rays that were never taken. Check your bill before you pay!!

Please get a second opinion if you are ever unfortunate enough to be referred here. Every tiny thing they do is so over priced you will walk away with another mortgage. We were about to go through with their recommended treatments that would have totaled $2.5k out of pocket after our (very good) private health insurance! but luckily had someone else look into it and had everything done for less than $50! If you like to watch money burn then you may not be concerned, for everyone else find another dentist

I was referred to this dentist to have my 8yr olds tooth removed using happy gas and walked out with 3 Xrays done, and surgery booked to have 2 teeth removed, filings removed and replaced and a mouth guard required amongst other consultations. I only needed his tooth removed - I am going to another Pediatric Dentist who will do as my dentist requested. Over charged and over serviced dentistry in my view.

I had heard good things about Dr Mala's practice, and when a tooth related accident occurred a few weeks ago, I knew it was the place to call.

My son had only been to the dentist once before. He didn't even make it onto the chair he was so spooked out, so I was fearing the worst.

This place is amazing. Not only did they squeeze him in as an emergency, the staff were singularly amazing. So friendly, so professional, so attentive. The waiting room is very child and parent friendly too - a separate area (that you can still see and hear) for the kids with play stations, iPads, books, everything, and great magazines for the mums and dads.

From having a son who was terrified at everything to do with the dentist - even the smell - this place has changed his outlook completely. As we drove into the car park today he said "Mum, I'm so excited to be going to see Dr Jenny".

The children fill in a questionnaire about their favourite things so the dentist can talk to them about things to take their minds off what's going on, there are movies to choose from to watch while the dentists 'count teeth'.

Couldn't recommend them more highly. Worth every cent.
