I booked an inspection online. They called to tell me that they CANNOT provide the service and withheld $25 for their “advice” provided. Such a disgrace. Do not purchase anything online from them!

Beware of Childs Property Inspections - I used them to do a pre-purchase inspection of my property and the report skipped an entire room that backed onto the bathroom shower. Once I moved in I realised that the shower had been leaking for a long time and the walls and wardrobe were full of black mould and a range of insects! I'm left with the bill to re-tile the entire bathroom and replace entire sections of wall. I've made many attempts to contact Child's and no one returns any calls or emails, even from my conveyancer. DO NOT TRUST.

I've bought a few houses over the years, but I have to say that the report I just got from Childs Property Inspections was the easiest to understand. Seemed to have a lot less computer generated stuff and was written by a real person who cared and took the time (thanks Peter). Got really good information and let us buy our new house with all the right info. The lovely agent Jen recommended them and then our solicitor also recommended them. Now we recommend our friends to use them too. Just made a difficult process a lot easier. Thank you.

Totally recommend Childs Property Inspections. We rang Wednesday for a building & pest inspection, the inspection took place Thursday and we received the written report by Friday in time for us to place an offer. Very efficient and detailed report, will use again as we were unsuccessful with our bid at Auction in todays hot Sydney property market!

I just want to thank the Childs Property staff for the excellent service. I have recently purchased my first property and from the first phone call to Childs the staff helped me so much and made the whole process so much easier. I had used another building and pest inspection company previously but I found that they were too slow in getting the reports back to me. After two failed attempts I found Childs Property Inspections on the internet. I had stressed to them that I didn't want to miss out on another unit and that I needed the reports back as soon as possible. They were very understanding of my situation and were very helpful. I had received the building report back within 48 hours and the strata report the following day. Because of their prompt service I was successful in purchasing the property. I found it extremely helpful that they have estimates on how much things cost to repair as it gave me better bargaining power and the fact I could speak to the inspector to clarify a few things that were in the building report helped me understand it all the more. My partner and I recently found an apartment we thought looked great and decided to buy subject to a Building and Strata inspection. We were told by the agent that an inspection was not necessary as any problems would be covered by the body corporate. Our conveyancer recommended we still get an inspection and so we arranged a building and Strata report through Childs Property Inspections. We are so glad we did. I called and spoke to Kirsten and called back and spoke to Lexie, both girls were so helpful and explained what the inspectors would be looking for and worked in with me so I could be at the property at the same time the Building inspection was being done. The inspection was done the next day by Gavin. Within a couple of minutes Gavin had found major damp issues in the bedroom walls entering the building from the rear ground level. Although the problem could be fixed it would have meant serious disruption. The strata report showed no record of a problem as the body corporate was not aware of it. The strata report also showed little in the sinking fund to repair these problems. We decided not to buy and continue to look for another property. We will definitely be getting Childs to do another inspection for us. They were so helpful from start to finish and saved us from a huge headache!

We have used Childs Property Inspections a number of times. I have to say that they used to be great when initially - nice readable inspection reports, prompt and friendly service. However lately I've found they have been 'too busy' to respond, not helpful over the phone and quite slow with the delivery of their reports. Although they still produce good work, because of this reason we have unfortunately decided to use another company to do our property inspections.
