only been here the once while visiting friends but the food was amazing. You need to make sure that you get there early though because it fills up extremely fast from the business people finishing work. The pork was by far the best dish and drinks were just as good

Decided to give this restaurant a try because of excellent forum reviews - proved to be a great decision.

It's easy to find as it's centrally located on the busy end of Flinders Lane, however the queue was a little off-putting at the start. We persevered though and when we got a table it was well worth it!

They have a great variety of food to choose from and they're all reasonably priced. Most of the food we had was just right, not too spicy, except for the Crying Tiger, which was really really hot.

Service is acceptable for such a busy restaurant, and the decor is pretty special. More spacious than you would think, looking at it from the outside, and everything is clean.

We would definitely return.

Went with an interstate visitor mid week so we took our chances and hoped we wouldn't have to wait too long for a table. This place definitely lives up to its reputation. Great to catch up in the bar downstairs which has a really good atmosphere. We shared a few dishes, the barramundi, pork and apple salad was unbelievable!!! We also had the duck and a vegetarian curry and shared the sago dessert - all dishes were amazing. Best food I have had in a long time.

This one one of my constant favs. I can not say that I have ever had anything I didn't like here, but my favs are the soft shell crab curry and the barra salad with sweet pork.

Amazing food! Just the right amount of spice for me, however others on the table found a few dishes far too hot for their taste. We let the waiter decide on our entire menu which was absolutely the right call. He chose perfect dishes based on our dietary requirements. Delicious cocktails to accompany as well. The sticky ribs were probably the biggest hit all round.
Get there early to put your name down. Pop downstairs for a few drinks while you wait (for up to 2.5 hours!). Have you wallet ready because it might end up being a costly evening!

Approximate cost: $30

Thanks for your review. I really must give this place a try sometime. The queue puts me off though.

We were warned there would be a line for the exceptional food here at Chin Chin and true enough, with no bookings allowed for our party of 5, we had to put our names down and wait for an opening. While waiting we went downstairs to the bar for some drinks and received an sms when it was time to go up for our meal. The menu was very extensive and we ordered about 5 different dishes and rice to share. The waiters were friendly and very efficient. I think they were used to working quickly to accommodate as many people as soon as possible. Everything came quickly and tasted fantastic. My favourite dish was the green curry. Very spicy but so full of flavour. Definitely worth the wait and will be back next time we are in town!

Great fresh and delicious food available with a good selection of cocktails. Food is delivered quickly after you order. Negative to this place is the no reservation booking unless 8-10 guests and it can be quite noisey - not enough to stop me from going back though

Worth the line up out the door to taste the food! A must as a Melbourne dining experience. The roll your own spring rolls and the massaman curry were both incredible, couldn't recommend them highly enough! The drinks are a little over priced but good just to have a couple. I'd recommend arriving early to ensure the wait for a table isn't too long.

A bit of a wait to be seated but it was worth it. Yummy pad thai will definitely have to come back again for more, hopefully with less of a wait too.

My husband and I went for dinner at this restaurant while visiting Melbourne. It was recommended by a melbournian friend saying we would not be disappointed. We certainly weren't, the food was amazing and good value for money given you are in the heart of the city. When we arrived at around 6.00pm the restaurant was already full so we put our name down and went downstairs to the bar (go-go) for a drink. We received an SMS when our table was ready and bought our drinks upstairs with us to the restaurant. It wasn't a long wait as the staff are very efficient.
