I could not have been happier with the result of my visit to Chumba this weekend. I had previously gone to another salon a few months ago and asked for my very thick, dark hair to be dyed a bright colour and walked away with my hair almost looking the same as when I came in and extremely disappointed. I rang Chumba after being recommended to them by a friend and spoke to someone on the phone (who was extremely lovely and helpful) who suggested I send photos of my current hair, what I wanted and an explanation of my complicated and long hair history in a facebook message for one of the stylists to read, and came in the next day for my consultation with Jess. She read my very long detailed message and talked with me about how we could best get my hair to where I wanted it to be and arranged to do a strand test. I was thrilled with this as it meant that I when we did dye my hair I would have the confidence that it would work and I would not be wasting my money/ leave disappointed. We did multiple tests until the colour took and Jess was super helpful with recommending products I could use along the way to help get my hair healthy enough for the colour to take. On Saturday I came in to Chumba to have my whole hair dyed bright burgundy/red as well as a treatment/ blow wave done. The entire time I felt comfortable and at ease because I knew I could trust Jess to create the colour I wanted and so I could just relax and enjoy the whole process. All the staff at Chumba were extremely lovely, attentive, positive and helpful throughout my whole experience including Sasha at reception, Michelle (?) who I spoke to on the phone the day before and who gave me great advice about what to do with my hair pre-treatment, and also another hair dresser (I believe her name was also Jess?) who rinsed and styled my hair for me at the end. I had a fantastic experience at Chumba and was extremely impressed with the calculated, thoughtful and skillful way Jess approached the colour. The result is a beautiful bright colour (exactly what I asked for) and hair that still feels healthy and is beautifully styled. It meant so much to me to leave a salon confident and happy with my new hair rather than disappointed, and Chumba definitely have a long-time customer in me.

Amazing I love this salon! Amazing service and amazing cuts I love that their are discounts for students its really difficult to find a good hairdresser when your on a tight budget!! Jamie is a total sweetie, the customer service at Chumba is always great and everyone is so friendly I cant wait to come back and get my colour done.

Hmmm sounds like a completely different salon! BTW don't trust the review below as it looks business owner generated. When I went the place was dead. No atmosphere, no clients, no star treatment and cheapish looking surroundings.

The cut was ok, I really can't complain, and the stylist did put a lot of effort into it. But the colour was just flat - really didn't hit the mark.

From the moment I walk through the door I get star treatment. The stylist spends time finding out what I want then I'm whisked away for a relaxing wash and head rub before the styling begins.

The cut is really great and the style lasts for ages.
