I would not recommend Coral Homes the whole construction phase as one 12 month stuff up after another and the house still isn't finished.

Approximate cost: $230000

We’ve had numerous issue repaired on our build but 12 months on we are still getting the run around on issues from our defect list that are still untouched. The first maintenance officer(were on our third) told me they have a budget for repairs, it’s easy to see when they’ve spent it cos they stuff you around. We have a window that still won’t close properly an oven still not properly installed and several other issues that come down to poor workmanship. I would never build with coral again. I knew going in that it wouldn’t be perfect but not to the level that we have.

Where did you build Rohita? I could have written this review exactly the same, we are in NSW, Bahama, now rendered, issues with slab, garage door, frames, roof, plumbing, kitchen etc it goes on and on and on. These people are incredible!

Would give a zero star if I could. The most unethical company I have had the displeasure of dealing with. Informed me eight months after I paid $20,000 deposit that they can't build the house. Breach of contract right there. Kept over $5,200 without an explanation, no invoice, nothing. Haven't return calls or emails unless you I went through a solicitor. Each time I did use a solicitor it cost me money. I only got part of my deposit back because my solicitor threatened legal action. What does this tell you? I feel Coral Homes use this tactic so you will just give up.

I love our house ! It was the best value for money and the Finnish is really great. We could have built with a different builder but trust me I have seen some shockers Coral exceeds the quality of thier competition.
Some don't use water proof sarking and they were an extra 100k.
Others don't use treated pine in thier frames and again more expensive.
Some have a inch step up into wet areas ewwww again more expensive.
My only critique would be smaller grout in wet areas and more reasonable time frames. But overall I feel it is a great quality build we paid $1100 per square meter and got high end finishes. And our site manager was excellent very happy would go out if my way to recommend

Poor customer service, damaged $9000 water tank, Eve's on the house and our car and took no responsibility. 4months on and still no occupation certificate. Coral homes buttered us up and were great while we were paying them but once they had our money any outstanding issues we had they didn't want to know about..

Built a home with Coral, just went back for my 2nd. Fantastic, well priced, great after build support. To be honest this other person on here sounds like a whinger.

Well I am out $1600 as I have walked away from Coral Homes after paying the initial deposit. Take heed of these reviews people. I would also be a bit wary of a couple of the positive reviews! They always seem perfectly timed.

I feel foolish for losing this money. Unfortunately, I succumbed to the pressure of "If you don't sign today you will miss out on this offer". The cynic in me believed the offer would be extended, but the salesperson was very convincing saying "management would only hold the offer for me until the end of the weekend". The offer was invariably extended, but I was $1600 signed up by now.

However, I was happy with the floorplan and the costings seemed to be close to what I expected. Then a few communications issues started happening. I would be told one thing on the phone, then when I questioned it in writing the answer would change. We had agreed to get prelim tender sorted, but then this somehow got confused and ended up with another few weeks delay with nothing getting done.

Anyway, we finally get some testing done. I was over the moon to get a great soil result. To me, that meant that if my tender was priced on a H class soil and my results came in better, that I would save some money. Oh no, not with Coral. They managed to increase my initial site costs by over $3000. It would have been easily missed in the Tender document as they put the extra money in a different section. Check your figures carefully! Also keep an eye out for random fees like Prelim Assessments, unregistered block fees. I was charged these and shouldnt have been. A few other things increased in price like NBN, council fees etc You need to go through everything with a fine tooth comb.

A bit more transparency would have went a long way.

The Sale Manager got involved when it was all starting to look like I would leave. He seemed sympathetic at the start and said he would follow up a week later, but he never did. It wasn't until after prelim tender that I said I was out that he got back in touch. Again, more false platitudes, saying he would send me his email address etc to see if we could work it out, but he never did.

My land is now registered and the time is ticking with nothing happening. I am not keen on paying a mortgage with nothing yet sorted. I am now researching and looking for new builders/floorplans. An honest builder with realistic prices and transparency is what I am looking for. It may be difficult, but I would rather lose my money than be duped.

PS You may also be told that it is unlikely that you will lose your deposit (well all of it anyway). Don't listen to that either. I asked for a partial refund - I understand there were some costs for soil tests and contour surveys, but they keep the lot.

Do your research. Read these reviews. Don't look for their Facebook page as that seems to have been removed after lots of complaints on their page.

I have not gone into everything in depth, but I really do think I have learned a valuable lesson and had a lucky escape.

How are Bold going thinking of building with them.

maggiea 02 Dec 2016

Finished with Bold last Christmas. We moved in before Christmas which resulted in living with quite a bit of snagging over the break, but we were happy to do that than not move in. Apart from that we were really happy with Bold. I think with any builder, there will be little hiccups along the way, but they were soon ironed out. Bold were really flexible with us as we made some changes along the way. We did a lot of upgrades also. We would definitely build with them again. I see on their FB page that they have a $10000 upgrade giift voucher promotion for their new Evolve showroom. Made me want to build again. One of my main issues when we originally built was the lack of upgrade options. Now they have sorted that out, it would be really exciting to go with them now. If we hadn't just put a pool in, our house would probably be up for sale and I would be knocking on Bold's door. Lol.
The after sales service has been great too. We made the right decision going with Bold.
