Horrible service. They cancelled my booking and accused me of lying. I booked a table online for 12 for my mother’s 70th birthday on Saturday night. I confirmed by online booking system on Wednesday. They called me a few times and I missed their call during work hours. They didn’t leave me a voicemail message. I attempted to call back and didn’t get an answer but a machine generated message about being out of business hours. On Friday night they cancelled my booking and I called on Saturday morning. They told me that my booking was cancelled because I didn’t confirm and told me that they didn’t believe that I tried to call back because their phone lines are always open. No apology. Do not go here.

Took mum here for a Yum Cha on a friday afternoon. Didn't have to make a booking and managed to get table that was strategically located along the path of the Yum Cha trolley. Everything we tried was delicious. My favourite was the runny custard/lave steamed bun- both my mum and brother raved about the buns. My mum is the fussiest eater I know and she had nothing to complain about this place.

Elegant Asian restaurant in busy cultural hub serving dim sum in a simple and stylish setting, For yum cha, it has quality

I love this restaurant, it is a bit on the pricier end but the quality of the food is amazing, you can tell that everything is cooked fresh to order and the depth of flavour is amazing (no MSG overload too!), this isn't typically seen in Chinese cuisine in Melbourne.
The wait can be long during dinner when you have no booking and the staff can come off as cold but I believe the food makes up for the lack of service offered.

Approximate price is for a table of 3 with separate entrees and shared mains.

Approximate cost: $250

In a queue is one thing but giving people tickets from 2 different books & then getting the order mixed up is pretty poor when you have 1 couple waiting half an hour and another couple waiting 15 minutes!
Also got 2 lots of food cold when we had yum cha & they just took them back & cancelled it. Not good enough.
There was an apology with mucking us up in getting us a table with 1 mango pudding to share. Gee ta, what that set you back guys? $2?
Lots of running around but so so service. Food that was hot was good.

I preface by saying that Crystal Jade is not bad, it is simply not great. The food is tasty, reasonably fresh, waiters are acceptable and atmosphere pleasant. However, given the pricing here, I do expect a little more.

The food is not as good as the Singapore branch and the prices are on the higher side. I tried the Shark fin and the pipis. The shark fin was quite bland but the pipis are fresh and yummy. Service is okay.

I came to this restaurant quite a few times.. The restaurant is located on the second floor.. quite spacious.. The food is good .. variety of food were showing.. and the taste just average.. the service was not so nice.. the staff does not walk around much with their trolley and really hard to find what you want to eat because sometimes they just walked pass us..

For fans of Crystal Jade in Asia... hold your breath... and keep holding!! It just isn't so! I am sorry to disappoint! This is not the Crystal Jade you would find in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Hong Kong or Bangkok!! :(

The owners of this place have taken the name of a famous restaurant chain in the hope of attracting fans of Crystal Jade restaurants around Asia. Unfortunately their food does not build on the reputation of Crystal Jade in Asia and when compared to other similar restaurants around Melbourne the question of good quality, value, and great service does not come up to standard. We were there for yum cha and the har gau, and other dim sum were just okay. It was nothing to write home about. The dishes do not compare to the "industry standard yum cha" of say Tai Pan or Red emperor. The pricing is also higher at around 20% more for some dishes than similar offerings at Tai Pan. Service was frustrating in that if our tea ran low we had to constantly flag down a waiter wheras in Tai Pan there was a waiter that constantly came around to fill the teapot.

Unfortunately this place does meet the high standards set by other restaurants in and around Melbourne. The thing to realize is that we are really fortunate to have such a high gastronomic standard in Melbourne which forces those less than satisfactory to lift their game or they will not be around for long!

Approximate cost: $9
