I came here for a work celebration and we had the banquet dinner (about $32 ea, excluding wine- was BYO). It was fantastic! Often when you order the banquet menu you can get less than expected, however Cumin thai were generous and their dishes were delicious. I particularly enjoyed their thai green chicken, which is always a good sign at a thai restaurant, but also their earthy spiced lamb shanks (star anise, cinnamon etc). The staff were really friendly and accommodating, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. Nice to find some quality thai in the area.

Cumin Thai restaurant is probably the best Thai restaurant in Kooyong in my book. As I lived in Hawthorn on Glenferrie Rd for a decade, this Thai joint has become a local favorite right next to "Koots Salle à Manger" (awarded one hat restaurant from The Age Good Food Guide).
Although the food there is not that kind of authentic, the quality of their dishes are high and they are reasonably priced.
We love to have "grilled pork neck salad" and "stir fry flat rice noodles with pork". My wife loves the grilled salmon cutlet dish (can not remember the dish's name sorry) and also their mixed entree. I always left this place thinking that the chef should have got very good wok skill because my noodle was always nice and long (if you love to eat noodles you know what I mean right)
The atmosphere is nice and cosy but a little bit too dark for my preference. it's just little hard to read the menu that's all. The service is great, friendly, attentive, and fun. We had a quick chat with one waitress on our last visit and she was really cool to make us go for desserts (her selling skill is quite impeccable to us).
Our overall experience for this Thai joint is above par. Some might disagree with us that they are on the way down but for us...we do recommend this restaurant for you locals and all surrounding suburbs.

This is one of my favourite Thai restaurants anywhere, and I wish I still lived in Melbourne so I could come here often. I probably ate here half a dozen times and it was always a great experience. I particularly remember the red duck curry with lychees, and my partner once had a beautiful piece of salmon cooked with Thai herbs which came with a wonderful green apple and cashew salad - flavours I don't usually associate with Thai food but the combination was just incredible! Nice dining atmosphere too. They do take away, but why would you want to eat it at home when you can eat here? Very reasonably priced considering the quality. A gem of a restaurant in the inner suburbs.

Approximate cost: $15-25

The red duck curry sounds delish
