Great place for night entertainment and drink specials. I spent the night here partying on till an early time in the morning. NO trouble seen at night considering how busy the place was.
Lots of people know this place for the party bangers it spews out onto Hindley street until all hours of the morning on a weekend. And, knowing this, they might assume the alehouse is not their kind of place.
But the D&D actually does great food! It's reasonably priced, and there are old favourites, such as crispy, delicious chips and steak with diane or whatever sauce, as well as lovely snacks like croquettey things and dumpling type things.
If you're staying in the area, or around Hindley street for work, it's a great place to grab a bite and watch the people go by, sitting in the Alfresco area!
Great place for clubbing on a Friday/Saturday night. Always busy and decent drinks specials before 10pm. Kind of expensive entry but they do heaps of deals and guest lists that make it cheaper. The staff are efficient and always rushing around trying to serve everyone as fast as they can.
I went there with a Scoopon voucher of $29. I order a steak and whilst my partner ordered the calamari. The entree dish looks great, a bit oily but still nice. When our food came I made a comment about how my dish smelt a bit funny. My partner was too busy eating his food so he didn't really notice. I didn't really touch my steak and just had the chips. Chips were really tasty and when my partner finished his food I gave him some of my steak. As soon as I passed my food to him he realized that there was a smell to it. We immediately called for the waitress who was more than happy to exchange the meal for us free to charge. However I was a bit worried about the quality of the meat so refused anymore food. The service here is great and definitely worth checking out. Just be mindful of the steak if you do order it.
Approximate cost: $20
Thanks for your review, even with the steak issue I would like to give them a go.
Thanks for the warning. I usually order steak too
Thanks, I'll just stick to the calarmari and chips!
I went there with a scoopon voucher. 29$ for 2 with mains, dessert and alcohol. Although, there is limited selection to me it's quite worth it. I ordered the steak while my partner ordered grilled flathead. I have to say that both dishes are quite nice, but the serving is a bit small. in terms of the environment, it looks a bit crappy because the dining/function room looks abit run down. however, the pub section looks quite nice. I will go there for a drink next time =). in conclusion, i dont mind going there again with a scoopon voucher
Approximate cost: $15
Sounds like a decent scoupon deal. I will be keeping an eye out for it!
this place isn't too bad to start with. they have drink specials. they used to give away free drink cards (7 drinks) with facebook competitions, not sure if they still do that. later in the night there is usually a line.
Dog & Duck is great and I do tend to come here after work to relax and enjoy friends company. The venue is very long and skinny with a large "L" shaped bar right in front when you walk in. There is also an upstairs area, however I tend to stay downstairs. Very popular on Friday nights and there is a line up at the front.
Good fun on a Saturday night out. Gets quite busy and it lots of fun when the back room and upstairs is open.
It does have an entry fee and average drinks prices but if you can get in early and get the drinks specials it's a little less expensive
Nice nightclub - however, quite dead on a Saturday night & usually goes off on a Thursday! very small dancefloor!
Nice place to eat and drink. Good Service quality.
Prices are very reasonable.
Nice ambiance and good atmosphere.
This place didn't amaze me. It as a very small dance floor if the back room and upstairs aren't open. However it does play good, popular music and has drink specials, but it does have an entry fee. Never eaten there.

Good meals before the night fall hits and the club opens. and when the club does open. great night ahead of you. with 2 djs and plenty of dancefoor.
Great atmosphere and divine food menu for a reasonable price! Highly recommended! I found the service there quiet nice and attentive.
The food is well presented and tastes delicious, unfortunately the staff are rude and so is the owner. I have eaten here several times and each time the same dish is presented differently which also indicates to me that they have lots of part time chefs and not one chef- could mean at any time you get a bad meal!
Approximate cost: $20
Situated in a historic hotel yet definitely contemporary. They serve great food from a good menu and the place has great ambience. Definitely a spot to unwind and spoil yourself!
Really nice place to go for lunch, food is great, big serve and small price. Almost go once a month, great sitting outside in the warm weather, really nice.
Approximate cost: $13
A very nice restaurant for something on Hindley Street. Has a bar at the front and dining areas at the front in the open and at the back. There is a glass screen up where the chefs are cooking the food so you can watch them. Food is yummo. Prices are very affordable. Service could be a bit more friendlier and genuine. This place is close to my work so it works out well for me.
Approximate cost: $10
Dog and duck serves modern Australian cuisine which caters for all taste. A nice atmopshere to begin with for dining which leaves u feeling cosy and comfortable. The food was not overly impressive however, it's mainly a night club where people go there to dance and have a good night out. More for clubbing and drinking type of place.
Approximate cost: $25
Good to hear you had a good time in Adelaide
