Tess "Leather" low stools. These Tess Leather Low Stools (Early Settler) are *NOT* REAL leather.

I got some Tess Leather Low stools, I called 2 Early Settler stores and also talked to the online support to ask if the leather was real to which they read the website and the leather care at the base of the page.

Considering the detailed explanation of the Tess leather stools leather care instructions, you would assume it was ACTUAL leather. Wrong. It has to be BONDED LEATHER mixed with some kind of plastic agent.

We will be taking them back to Early Settler. Watch the video attached. The "leather" on these stools wouldnt last more than 6 months without cracks appearing.

Bonded leather is when they get all the scraps and offcuts, turn them into a mush, mux the mush with adhesive agents, then bond it to some kind of fabric backing. It cracks and peels off the backing. See the video attached. Real leather does not behave like what you see in the video.

We got them last night and only opened two, to see what they were like.

If you push on the leather with medium weight with your finger, it leaves permanent creases in the surface of the "leather". Leather is skin, it is flexible and stretches. We have multiple leather items in our house. Leather lounge, clothing etc.. none of them do this.

See the video attached.

I would call the description on the Early Settler website MISLEADING. There should be some kind of law about passing some fabricated material off as a natural leather.

Use this review as a guide... Avoid these Early Settler stools.

It is really sad that these companies (Like Early Settler) pass trash off as quality. They charge a restocking fee also which the price is 20%... A bit scammy I think. Should have a maximum of $50 for restocking, especially if it is an online purchase.

They didn't have these in store to look at beforehand also.. Probably because if anyone saw these Tess Leather Low Stools and touched them, they wouldnt sell.

The "leather" feels hard and dry already. All the chairs we have used for just two days look the same. There are two we havent really used and they obviously arent all creased yet.

Trash. I will not buy from Early Settler again.

Product Quality is good unless something was delivered in a damaged condition.
Service is generally good until they need to fix something. They say the right 'customer service' things, but in actuality the don do the right 'customer service' things they undertake to do. This gets frustrating and exasperating and pushes the customer to unfortunately consider NSW Fair Trading actions to rectify the problem(s).
Value rating would be higher if they actually had a good Customer Service ethic that did what it should.
ADVICE: Wait for the Sales; Inspect your delivered products and if something is astray photograph and document the rectification journey. NB: The Management are generally okay so target them to get the correct outcome.

I placed an order on the online store eight weeks ago for A Dining Table and eight chairs.

The due date for our delivery is tomorrow, I phoned our local store today to confirm when we could pick up our items.
I was advised that our dispatch date has now been pushed back to March 11th and it will then take a further two weeks to receive our furniture an additional 4 weeks from our initial delivery date.

Having already waited eight weeks for our furniture to then not be contacted about the delay is very disappointing and inconvenient. The only reason we are now aware of the delay is because we contacted our local store.

We will now be without dining furniture for four weeks as we have removed our furniture in preparation for collection tomorrow.

Horrible lack of customer service!

I ordered items of furniture from Early Settler online 6 weeks ago, the original dispatch dates were listed on my invoice as the 28th November and 31st December. The 28th of November approached, and I hadn't received an email from them, so I checked their website to find the items I'd ordered now had different dispatch dates. I have never been informed of these changes, the dates have changed several times now, without any communication, and the latest now say 7th of January, if I can believe that they my items will ever turn up. Emailed customer service 2 days ago, nothing yet but an automated respond. Steer well clear of them if your item isn't in stock. I'd give them zero stars if there was an option for that.

I live in Hobart and was looking for solid wood cabinets for my kitchen. Was finding it near impossible and ridiculously expensive and finding the cabinets on Early Settler was a god-send. The cabinets are absolutely beautiful and sturdy, and solid wood. We had Nalan as our representative to help us through the process of ordering until delivery. She was nothing short of amazing. Because we live in Hobart, they had to arrange a courier to ship them from VIC, and she was just perfect in every aspect of her job. I now recommend this company to everyone!

HAVE BEEN A BIG FAN FOR A LONG TIME. LOVE THEIR 'RUSTIC' STORY but . . . WHAT IS GOING ON? THERE ARE CHANGES IN THE STORE! NEW BUYER? DON'T NEED TO CHANGE WHAT WASN'T BROKEN.

ABSOLUTELY HOPELESS!! I LOST MY JOB BECAUSE OF THEIR DELAYS!!
I ordered a bed for a DISPLAY HOME that needed furnished URGENTLY because it was to be photographed for newspapers and also real estate pages ... they found the bed i needed in Cairns (I was in Townsville - ONLY 4 hours drive away) .... 6 WEEKS LATER they phone and say they have lost the bed and another one will come from Melbourne - and it will be ANOTHER 2 WEEKS to get delivered!!!! IF they had told me it would take 2-MONTHS to get a bed from 4-hours away (Cairns) I would have bought the bed from another retailer.

I've now LOST MY JOB because of this delay .... I told my client that the Display Home would be furnished in time for the photographer ... and because of no fault of my own I have now lost this contract to do ANY future design work with the Company.

IT IS QUICKER TO ORDER FROM USA OR EUROPE ... Don't bother supporting your local Australian retailers ... they are completely hopeless!!!

I found the staff to be very accomodating. I required a chair at short notice and they were able to get it for me within 2 days. After getting it home we weren't certain of the colour and they were more than happy to let me exchange.

Had an extremely poor purchasing experience and took the time to write to head office. It now appears stock standard that these aren't replied to.
This company must have the poorest standards I've ever come across!
One friendly team member does not make up for when you have another that is blunt, rude and unapologetic.
