Fancy Fish

Tried this place after reading good reviews, in fact I drove a lot further than I normally would to get takeaway to go here. But I feel obliged to provide some balance to the rave reviews. Place is clean, nice, good quick service, etc. but we had two pieces of coral trout in our order that were bad - off! Smelled and tasted disgusting and were inedible. When I rang to tell them they handled it ok but it shouldn't happen. Was offered a credit but I have no intention of going near the place again. Very annoyed I spent $15 on inedible fish that made us feel queasy and had to have chips only for dinner! Maybe it was one off but I won't go back.

Really nice food, sometimes really busy but if you order over the phone it's a lot quicker. It's ok for price, in my opinion you pay a lot for a small amount of chips, but definately tastes good. Fish cocktails are nice and so are the crumbed sausages

Really nice tasty fish and chips. I have never had bad fish and chips from here. The wait time is reasonable and the quality is great. It was slightly more expensive than average, but the food makes up for it! The staff are always pleasant and the store clean and well stocked.

ok so I've read and heard about heaps of great reviews for this fish & chip shop, but honestly I found them to be pretty average. They were definitely a good shop, don't get me wrong...but nothing spectacular like I had heard. Food was good, took ages for order to be cooked though - a good half an hour. Store was clean & good you could see food.

The food here was great. Bought fish & chips for the family & it was great. Cooked fresh, nice & hot and tasted great. Store was clean & tidy. There was a bit of a wait, but it was very busy the night we went there. They are a bit pricey compared to other fish and chip shops too.

I've been looking for a good fish and chip shop since moving from Victoria a couple of months ago, and came across a few duds. Fancy Fish, though, doesn't fall under this category - their chips are consistenly good and not soggy, their fish was thick and tasty and their potato cakes (or potato scallops, as I've learnt to call them now) are thick and tasty. I've found my new Friday night haunt (and there's a Subway next door in case I want to go healthy when my wife wants fried, or vice-versa!!!)

Friendly staff, excellent service and food. Instead of waiting for ages for my order to be finished, I only had to wait a short time. It's a nice, clean and friendly environment and I will continue to purchase food from there.

We went here once and it was so busy. It took so long for us to get our food. It was around Easter - busy holiday - so that was understandable. Once we got our food it was ohk. It wasn't fantastic though; chips were good but again I think it was just too busy. Service was nice and friendly.

The snapper is absolutely beautiful. Chips are always consistent. Never burnt or soggy. Service is great. Never had to wait long for meal as we ring through order.

Fush n Chops. Well the chips are cook good nice hot oil so chips arnt soggy or chewy. The fish is poor. Not fresh frozen. Fish is thin and not worth the dollar.

Great food and great service, and the price can't be beaten. We usually ring our order in ahead of getting there so we are not waiting as long, because it is a popular take-away. It is always clean.

I've been here and its was sooooooo busy, we had to wait ages for our food. Once we got it it was so worth it. I think it was so busy because it was good Friday. Good cheap food

The fish from Fancy Fish is some of the best fish I have ever had from a fish and chips shop. Especially the grilled coral trout. The service is fast and friendly, and the prices are very cheap for such good quality. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

This place is a true gem, tried as a one of and have been going now for almost 8yrs. Have even moved away from the area, tho we do travel the distance just to dine or takeaway this superb seafood. Have never had the feeling ~ like, ummm that wasn't up to the normal quality tonight. Each and every time it is of the utmost quality and freshness.

Food is great the service from the asian couple who own it cannot be beaten, the restuarant is always crowded and the wait isnt too long. Plenty of family specials
