Good!
There were people there when we got there and the service was still up to standard and they weren't rushed.
Food came out in good time and it was definitely enjoyable

I have mixed feelings about this place as I really liked their burgers but their fish was soggy and chips overcooked, I mean I like crispy chips, but these were ridiculous. Only went here because we were on our way to a friends place and had to pick up some takeaway. Probably will not try again.

This one's hard to review.

As you can see below, there has been a decline in the positivity of reviews over time.

To me it seems like FOW used to be very customer focused, delivering amazing food that, whilst more expensive than your average fish-n-chippery, was well worth it for the quality and taste.

But lately it seems to have slipped. The burgers are sometimes lacklustre and the fish and chips are just ordinary. I wonder if the economic downturn affected them or if they just got complacent.

I do hope they return to form because Fish Out of Water used to be a must for a Sunday hangover or for those times when there's nothing in the fridge for dinner.

Approximate cost: $13

Really really nice fish and chips, however the price is the killer at the place. Have been here a few times due to it being close to where i was living at the time. Would not prefer this place over any other fish and chip shop though

Approximate cost: $122

The cost of the meals were high above the cost of the average fish and chip "shop/takeaway" and unfortunately the food did not live up to the standard of a discerning customer.

These guys are great. I have had fish and chips, burgers and salads here and it is all very good. If you are going for a burger, get a vicious burger. They cost a bit more $10-13 but they have cheese, marinated eggplant, grilled capsicum and much more. Eat it fresh though. We often order to pick up and a couple of times when we got there out stuff was sitting waiting for us, so it wasn't quite as nice as it is fresh(chips dont really like plastic bags). Now we make sure that if they say 15mins we get there in 10.

I agree with the plastic bag comment - they are so quick to make the food that sometimes it's a bit less fresh when you get there! I guess that's not always a bad thing, as long as you know to rush and get there early.

They call themselves "the funkiest takeaway in the universe" and the most certainly meet those standards! Not only do they sell all the traditional fish and chip shop items but they have a great selection of gourmet burgers which are fantastic!! (what I had tonight)
Another important factor is the hot chips are spot on and tasty too!!
Very happy overall...little on the pricey side but then it is special!

Approximate cost: $15
