Went there on a raining Sunday afternoon, the place wasn't packed, there were a couple of groups at tables. We were seated, ordered hot chocolates and pancakes.
The hot chocolates came straight away. We ordered the basic pancakes with jam and cream.
Waited 45 minutes and noticed people that came in after U.S. We're getting their meals.
I finally got the waitress's attention and asked her if our order was coming. She said it had been forgotten.
It was getting late and we had to leave.
So we left without getting our pancakes. They gave us our hot chocolates on the house.
I was seriously annoyed enough to not want to go there again.

Have visited this establishment for over 10 years and has always been top notch - until recently when it changed hands - poor service and average to bad food. Sad to see. The place used to be packed on a weekend - now you can practically sit where you like - says it all really.

Approximate cost: $30

I agree. There was such a lovely atmosphere but no longer. The new management have killed it - poor service, poor food.

This is a great place for breakfast and lunch in the Dandenongs. Their pancakes are better than pancake parlours and your get the ambience as well being the Dandenongs.

Went there for lunch with my friend. We both just got a stack of pancakes.
They were deliciously fluffy.
Atmosphere was nice, though a bit empty for lunchtime. We were almost the only ones in there.
Waitress was nice, made sure we had everything we needed and that we were enjoying the meal.
Overall it wasn't too expensive either, which was surprising as most of the restaurants in the hills tend to be a bit more costly.
Would definitely go back.

This is a gorgeous little place to eat. They have a great menu and the food is very nice. I have tried the sweet and savory pancakes and both are yummy. The décor is decorated lovely and the staff are pleasant. And you can help yourself to a few peppermints on the way out.

A fairly casual restaurant, decent food and decent prices. Nothing overly special but great for a quick meal out. Some lovely specials, and old favourites on the menu as well.

I wish to retract my review, as my recent trip to Flippin' Pancakes was not what it was. It is no-longer the fantastic restaurant I reviewed. The owners appear to have changed and so has the quality of food on the menu, the service and the atmosphere. The salmon was dry and half the things on the menu weren't available. All the staff have changed and the wait for food was ridiculous. It has been a terrible disappointment.

Previous review:
Absolutely fantastic! The waitresses are great, ask for their favourites and you'll never be disappointed! The kangaroo is the best I've ever tasted and the fish is beautiful. We now go there for most family occasions. We often take friends and family there too and no matter who we bring with us, they're always new fans. The menu has all kkinds of savoury and sweet pancakes and crepes, but the daily specials are mostly non-pancake mains. All serving sizes are very generous, so you may want to share desert. The pancakes are good, but it's the daily specials YOU MUST TRY!

Approximate cost: $17-30

I love this place! The interior is like my Nanna's house. Doilies, fresh flowers, pretty plates on display. The pancakes are nice, cheap and quick to come out. The service is always polite and friendly.

They are a really cute and old restaurant. Very historic looking. It' like the pancake parlor only half the price. Great service and friendly people. The food is nice and good quality. great for a budget dinner.

Lovely historic building with pretty leafy views. Excellent service, child friendly and fantastic value, so long as you order off the regular menu and keep away from the specials board. The specials board is all non pancake related dishes so why you would go here for anything other than pancakes is beyond me. Interesting savoury pancake options. Sweet pancake selection is strong though the menu in general hasn't changed in years. But if you're on a winner why change?

I have been to Flippin' Pancakes now several times, and have been particularly impressed with the cafe on my most recent visit. The crepes both savory filled (the chicken, and the spinach) and sweet were outstanding, and the one pancake dish we ordered (potato with cheese) was also delicious. Even the salad was great-very fresh, great variety of veges and lovely dressing. They are very child friendly, and service is warm and welcoming. The decor is somewhat olde style which is appropriate. The value for money is excellent.

A fun place for the kids but I'd suggest better for breakfast than dinner. We went for dinner and the kids loved the fact that they got dessert for dinner, they do have savory options but not a lot that would appeal to kids, the service was good though and the meal sizes generous

Every time we go there the quality of the food is the same, so we know to expect - a really yummy meal. You can get other food besides pancakes. I always get the cheese and potato pancake and next time, for dessert I will try the banana crepe. We had the lunch deal which included a drink, main meal, dessert and coffee

Really yummy food, fantastic atmosphere and really great service. Above all though it's the bargain prices that keep me coming back. Also really great coffee. A fave for the whole family!

Fantastic dining experience. Can suit a Sunday brunch or Friday dinner, or any excuse in between. The coffee is good, and the food is to die for. The menu is a little stagnant (been the same for years) but I guess why mess with a good thing!

25.05.10 Ammending my glowing review, as I recently had a bad experience at Flippin'. The waitress was the rudest waitress I have ever experienced. She kept adding her two cents worth to our conversation that she overheard, called my mum, my grandma, my brothers my sons, it was pathetic. Even after she realised she had monumentally crossed aline she kept going. When I said my brothers were my brothers, she said 'well when are you having kids?'. Excuse me??? MYOB stupid idiot. I rang to complain, and I hope she isn't there anymore. Regardless, I won't be going back.

We dined here for dinner on Mother's Day. It has a very cosy atmosphere. Food was great and the pancake menu is reasonably priced, $12.90. Other main courses from the specials board are $25+. Very child friendly. My hubby and I had very yummy desserts, highly recommend the blueberry pancakes and the black forest pancakes.

A great relaxed atmosphere at anytime. Great for afternoon tea, lunch or evening meal. The staff are very friendly and ensure your experience is enjoyable. Prices are this type of dinning is quiet reasonable. They serve more than pancakes. Great dinning for two, take the family or a group. Something on the menu for everyone. In winter they have the fire going which just adds to the experience.
