Great food and service. Would not hesitate to recommend or return. Great option for a family function, price quite reasonable. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Lygon Street offers a range of interesting cafe's to visit and this is one not to miss. They offer a range of unique icecream flavours at reasonable prices. It is an excellent place to go to on a summer afternoon. It can get quite busy, but this adds to the vibrant atmosphere.

We ordered, two ice creams (2 scoops each), iced coffee, hot coffee and a cake for $25. The ice cream was soooo good. If I lived closer I would be going more often. It was busy but they still let me try a couple flavours of ice cream and were very polite. They have outdoor seats, great on a hot day, eat ice cream and enjoy the sunshine.

I really like going to the B.East next door, so I can't say I've explored every gelato option on Lygon St (there are a lot!) but I do like popping in here. Some great tastes - I love the tiramisu flavour! Quite a big place, but keep in mind, you have to buy more than just gelato if you want to sit in the main section. Otherwise there is decent indoor/outdoor seating, but on a hot day it can get tricky to grab a seat.

The place has recently undergone a renovation. It has reopened in a new updated fresh new form, all clean hard plastics and plasterboard.
The unfortunate aspect, is that they have also hiked up prices extraordinarily over the last few seasons and reduced serving portions, to pay for the renovation. They can afford to do this because there is no competition of any sort anywhere near by. Quality has also gone down somewhat. I struggle to find a difference to ie. Trampoline.

The gelati here is fantastic. All handmade and lots of flavours to choose from. The cakes are fantastic. I would definitely suggest people go here to buy something special for their birthday! They wont regret it.

One of the best gelato places in Melbourne. Super tasty gelatos with a range of flavours. Prices are reasonable & they give you huge scoops. Their chocolate gelato is simply to die for!

For a truly authentic and yummiest Italian ice cream, here is a good place for you to go and try.

its been open for many years and always has on display a good assortment of gelati, cakes and biscuits. yes they also serve coffees and other cold drinks

my personal favourite are nocciola (hazelnut) and coffee gelati

be warned it gets very busy during balmy summer evenings, but be patient ... as the wait is worth it for a yummy ice cream

The gelato here is the best in Melbourne. All hand made, hard to pick the best flavor. The cakes are just as good, as is the coffee. The prices are good too.

Delicious Gelato and a fabulous range. Their lemon Gelati is to die for! I love getting a take away container full of this stuff :) My only complaint is there is so much choice that it's hard to choose!

So many flavours, so little room in my stomach - i LOVE this place so much sometimes i thought about having it for dinner instead of just dessert so that i could fit more in. Not the cheapest gelato ever, but not that expensive either. always a must do when i'm back in the area.

In summer there are massive lines at this place but the gelati is Melbourne's best. A big variety of flavours you won't be stuck for choice. Standard sort of prices. They also have little cakes and things as well.

Travel from Melbourne's Western Suburbs for a gelati from here. Often combine the trip with a meal at Thalia Thai then wander down the street for a great gelato.
I love the Zupa Englaze, nougat and the coffee is great also. Really busy on a hot summer night and a great place to sit and watch the world go by.

You know these guys are fussy about ice cream when you see people queuing up outside the door at 1am on a hot Saturday night. You also know that the quality of the ice cream must be top notch when they won't make the flavour you want when they can't get the right quality ingredients. What more is there to say? The place is a salute to great Italian gelato manufacturers in Italy. The flavours all contain authentic ingredients and our favourite is the Blood orange (not always in season!!) and it's that good we've even had friends take away the ice cream and stretched out the small container over several days - it's just that good! Cakes and cookies there unfortunately don't match the quality of the ice creams however the ice cream more than makes up for the cakes! During Easter they make and decorate their own eggs, a special treat if you're after a special Easter gift.

I love this place and have been going there since I was young. Best gelati in Melbourne in my opinion. Friendly service and great variety of gelati flavours. They also have chairs and tables out the front so you can sit and eat your ice cream while watching the traffic go down Lygon Street. My husband loves their gelati as well and we'll keep going there for as long as they're open.

My local ice-creamery - loved by many far and wide though! Many ice cream flavours to choose from. There are home-made chocolate Easter treats, as well as a large selection of delectable Italian pastries. Mmmm. Watch for the long queues during summer - even late at night!

I love Gelobar. While the gelati and icecreams there are great, and it is certainly worth the wait on a hot summer night, I also love stopping in there for some nougat or cake. The coffee is always fantastic and the service is lovely.

So crowded on a hot evening. But if you queue, you'll get served really quickly and his is a lovely area to wander around eating your iced treats. I'm Lemon Gelati only, so I can't rate the other flavours but the lemon is just so much better than the stuff you get from your supermarket freezer. So Melbourne, so Carlton. So cheap. Just go.

I will drive far, far out of my way just to go here. It's been said before..best gelati in Melbourne! If you get lucky, they just may have the apple pie flavour available. They also do great coffee and cakes.

Gelobar is just down the street from me, and we've been here several times. It is incredibly popular, having been one of the first places to serve gelato in Melbourne, and summer nights see long queues snake out of the door well into the night. The gelato is delicious and the flavours and texture very authentic and similar to what I've eaten in Italy. Having said all that, this place isn't my favourite in Melbourne, but certainly up there.

The best tasting gelati in Melbourne by far - real homemade stuff. Once you've tasted this you won't put up with second-rate gelati any more!

In my opinion this is the best Gelati in Melbourne. Hands Down.

I have often been here after enjoying a great meal at Thaila Thai a few shops North along Lygon Street (see separate review). This is real Gelati like you get in Italy and you used to be able to get in that little place opposite The University Cafe on Lygon Street in Carlton before it closed. The Gelo bar is well worth a visit, there are heaps of interesting flavours, surrounded by 1970's style decor. And check out the strange cafe next door - when you see it you'll know what I mean.
