A perfect romantic getaway situated within beautiful grounds. The restaurant is very nice with good service and great selection of food. A great deck to sit outside on a warm afternoon or evening and enjoy the view. You can even see big ships on Westenport bay on a clear day

What an amazing setting this restaurant is in. My favourite thing to do is go there for lunch on a warm summer day and sit on the deck. In the far distance you can even see ships in Westernport bay. Afterwards you can walk through the very interesting garden. A great meal is also provided and friendly service. The owner's run the place and see to it that everyone is happy.

First time here for Sunday Brunch but have enjoyed dinner here before. Lots of choice of both hot and cold food, both seafood and meat dishes as well as vegetarian. So many desserts to choose from. Great value and the friends who came with us also said how much they enjoyed it and want to go again. Friendly staff were on hand to advise clear the many empty plates and to serve wine. The chef was even out of his kitchen serving and describing the food. We also enjoyed a walk in the beautiful gardens.

Definitely worth the drive to get here. Yummy and very generous/filling portions. Gorgeous views on a clear day. I've been here for their Sunday Brunch which is an all you can eat buffet for $37.90 per adult. Heaps of food and the variety on the buffet changes throughout the duration of your time there. I have also been here for dinner quite a few times and I've never been disappointed. In fact, it's such good value and yummy that my husband and I got married and had our reception here over 12mths ago and our guests are STILL raving about the food! Whenever I go to dinner here I always buy a loaf of their potato bread to take home.

Went out with friends first time to this restaurant. From entering the place to exiting was fantastic. Service with a smile, constantly ensuring we were okay. Glass was always topped up before we had finished that glass. The only criticism was the table had to many decorations on it which seemed to cramp everyone up. Dessert great $28.00 platter but 6 desserts were on the plate. AWESOME. Clear night and could see Melbourne. Will be returning again.

This letter was sent to the Management - even after a phone call to make sure they received the letter it remains unanswered - I wasn't even asking for anything just wanting to point out the problems we experienced.

To the Manager

I write this note to you so as to inform you of our dining experience last Saturday night.

I was requested by my sister-in-law to find a fitting restaurant to celebrate her 30th Wedding anniversary. After dining at Clover Cottage a while ago I was told If I loved it there I would indeed love the charm, warmth and homely feeling of your restaurant.
We viewed your website and the menu on it and decided this would indeed be a fitting establishment to celebrate such an important event. Mainly as she and her husband are European and the German feel was very inviting to her and there was something on the menu to suit all attending. We were very excited as we dont fine dine too often and looked forward to spoiling ourselves.

I booked a table for 11 for Saturday 15 May, requesting the views of the bay for around 6pm. On the day I received a call to confirm the number of guests and I called back to make sure we had a table with views, which I was assured of. I also mentioned the anniversary and asked if something special could be done. I was told yes that sparklers could be put on the desserts and if they didnt order any dessert they would bring something out anyway.

Upon arrival just after 6pm, 3-4 of us were waiting for the rest of the group who were already in the car park. Disappointment number one - we were seated at a back table where you really had to stretch to see the view. A waiter then informed me that there were many people booked in for the evening and could we order within 10 minutes so we didnt have to wait for our meals. We were the only ones in the restaurant at this time and the next group I believe didnt arrive until around 6:45pm. Disappointment number two The dining room was absolutely freezing, those of us with jackets kept them on. Only after we were eating our entrees did any heat filter through and then it became too hot then too cold and so on.

Before we were all seated we were being asked what we wanted to drink. Disappointment number three - Then once seated we were continuously rushed (3-4 times within 10 mins) to order our meals. It was frustrating and difficult for many of us to decide on our order as the menu was not what was displayed on your website and the website does not state that the menu could change. When some did ask about the food the waiter really didnt have great knowledge and left them more confused. We felt that the kitchen were in fact pushing for the orders and we were the only people in the entire restaurant. My experience in dining is that you are given time to look at the beverage list, then order drinks. Then are given time to look at the menu and there should be one menu each, then when you are ready you place your order without being constantly badgered.

We placed our orders. Disappointment number four The waiter spilled a beer down the back of my nephew soaked shirt a sincere apology was all that was given. I would have expected a complimentary entre at the least for him having to sit for the rest of the evening in a wet shirt. I must say all the waiting staff we encountered were pleasant but young and very inexperienced.

Disappointment number four Dessert was ordered. Apple fritters for myself, apple crumble for my brother-in-law (celebrating the anniversary) and apple crumble for another diner. I spoke to the waiter and requested the sparklers come out on my brother-in-laws apple crumble. No problems. It came out and was beautifully presented with a sauce in the shape of a heart and sparklers and other heart garnishing. Then another apple crumble presented the same way with hearts etc. no sparklers was presented to my sister-in-law along with fruit and ice-cream each we assumed it must be complimentary (as per my phone call to the restaurant earlier). I received my dessert and after about 10 mins realised the other diner didnt receive her dessert. We asked the waiter and then all realised her dessert was given to my sister-in-law. It was half eaten and our friend just couldnt be bothered after everything to wait for another.

The food ranged from good pretty good to very nice. For a beautifully set restaurant, I was surprised and very disappointed with our experience at your restaurant. We all left with nothing to rave about and the night actually came to an end. No one was in the mood to continue the celebration and I feel so disappointed for my sister-in-law and brother-in-law who paid for everything and left with nothing to speak of.

I cant say any of us will return again.

Lovely atmosphere. Food was ok (we went for lunch) but not a lot of vegetarian options (the menu on the website wasn't the same as the menu at the restaurant which was a bit disappointing)
The verandah area is beautiful though with lovely views of the well cared for gardens. Will definitely return again for an afternoon tea just to enjoy that atmosphere.

I love this place, awesome food, awesome friendly staff, an owner & chef who are very passionate about their work. We loved it so much that we had our wedding there, what a beautiful venue. It has had work done since we got married & is just lovely. Great if your looking for a relatively small intimate, great view venue.

A restaurant that I love going to. The food is authentically german and so are some of the staff. If you sit on the deck on a clear day you can see ships on Westernport bay and also take in the lovely gardens
